Helping pet lovers get through the grief of losing a pet.

I get hundreds of e-mails and phone calls from those who have lost a pet and simply can not get through the grieving process. They feel guilt if they have had to let a pet go, they feel they could have somehow done more. They feel guilty if they have caused something to cause it to die. They miss holding and loving them terribly. If you have loved a pet and had to give it up you can identify with this tremendous pain and hole in your heart. And most often the guilt you feel as well.

There is no way of ignoring the present pain of separation from your pet but there are words of comfort and words of hope. First we do not own our pets nor our children or our mates. We have no control over our own mortality. So instead of looking at what might have been look at what is and Who is in control of all life. Then instead of being angry and questioning God praise Him that your pets is with Him in heaven. After all His word says He takes them back to Himself after they physically die. Can we praise God through the tears? Yes, as our pets are in heaven and they are healthy and happy. This life is very short and eternity is forever. You will be together again. Try to see your pet in your minds eye in a perfect place having perfect peace and even through the tears prepare yourself to continue your life’s journey and the mission you have on earth understanding more profoundly the love God has for you and for His creatures. Thank God for showing you what pure love is through your pet.

When possible, start to make a difference in the life of some homeless pets that so desperately needs love and security. You are not abandoning the one in heaven. You are giving and receiving more love you can add to the treasure of joy already awaiting you in heaven for all eternity as well.

God says to praise Him in all things and I have found that when I do that there is a peace and comfort that comes. So praise Him that your pet is in heaven. When you continue to praise God He will bring comfort to your heart.
