Why I Respect All Religions
Each religion has its root in the pure truth. The intention of those who preached various aspects of the same truth (Moses, Buddha, Jesus, Mohamed etc) was not to create religions, but to enlighten their people, to open their hearts, to ease the burden of their daily life, and to try to awaken them from deep slumber.
However, those who came afterwards thought they were doing right by interpreting and “enhancing” the words of the sages. This seemed necessary to them, in order that their audience would better understand the teachings. They did that with the best of intentions and in good faith. Alas, the slightest change in the words or the slightest addition of words changed the sense and the power of the original teachings, which the sages wanted to convey and which were anchored in the original text.
These “enhancements” have changed entirely the meaning these messages intended to communicate to us. Today everyone tries to hold on to his religion as if it was the only one holding the truth. In fact the truth is visible to those who are able to feel the original words despite the changes made in good faith and for the love of the scripture and the old songs.
This is the reason why one cannot argue about religions. The one who argues and the one who is listening have both been hypnotized for centuries. But, for those who seek the truth, with love, their savior will come within themselves, during this lifetime on earth or thereafter. Only then will they understand the meaning of the words of the sages. This is the reason why, although I do not believe in any religion, I respect them all, because of their core of truth.
