Being aware of the present gives it more value.

The Value of the Present

The past is a part of our life which brings us, in the present, more pleasure than when we experienced it.  We tend to remember the past and foresee the future, rather than enjoying the present moment.  And yet the past was the present in its own time, but we gave it no importance, just as we are doing now.  We look at the present only from the moment it enters the past.  Let us live in the present moment, and go through its trials.  Let us feel each moment with its intensity.  Nature is constituted in a way that even the feeling of sadness provoked by the death of a loved one, or by hard trials we go through, is experienced differently with the passage of a few months.
