The author's thoughts about war and imbalance.

War is a Sgn of Imbalance

War is a sign of imbalance.  It is not through force that one re-establishes the balance.  But against an aggressor you need to use force. History teaches us that the deployment of force has never led to a lasting peace.  Above all, let us respect each other.

No nation is superior to another.  This is also true of religions and cultures.  A victory does not mean peace; it only brings a temporary period of quiet.  It is a grave error to underestimate someone smaller.

The greatness of a nation or a country is not measured by the number of its inhabitants or its size in square miles.  No cause to rejoice from victories; they do not guarantee a lasting peace.  Those who seek revenge may get back even after a long period of time.

Time does not matter in history, and history is only an episode in the life of the human race.

Emile - I once read something about the Hopi Indian settlements before the white man came. They only fought wars when they were forced on them by raiding tribes. They defeated the raiding tribes, but instead of celebrating their victories, they mourned that they had to fight a war to resolve the conflict. I don't think I've ever heard of any other people who saw things that way. - David

War is a sign of imbalance, that's true, then again, the world will produce from time to time Gengis Kahns, Hitlers, Idi Amins,Mugabes, Kim sung ils, Osamas or that nutty cases in Iran bend on conquer, forcing your hand to send your soldiers to contain the plague.
We hear at nauseum about the retoric of "diplomacy" which doesn't work if you try to reason with a monkey to give up that loaded revolver by resorting to "dialog".
Then again, that's the cynic in me talking.
