Do we really have a major problem or a problem we can solve? We have to find out who is best suited to solve the problem. I was of the firm belief that the American people have elected a new president, and I respect this, be he a Democrat or a Republican.  However, for the last six months I have been getting the impression that we are in the midst of a huge fight. Every new project seems to point, not to a change, as we expected it, but to something that seems to be going on behind the scenes, without the knowledge and the awareness of the people, even of those among the people, who elected our new president. 

Can anyone tell me, what is going on? As a French American with decades in this country, I never intended to be in middle of any revolution, and particularly at my age.  Graduate change in some programs, yes, but not a drastic change, and the people should know what kind of change we are talking about. I cannot call this a democracy and particularly when some of our elected officials are portraying citizens who disagree with them, in negative terms, and demonizing them, by using words which are not appropriate for such use. The one who is not able to honor a person of opposite opinion is not worthy to be called a citizen of a powerful and honorable democratic nation.

Is America depleted of smart, intelligent and wise people? Where are the people like those who in World War II  managed huge campaigns on three fronts, in Europe, in Asia and at home? They managed to increase production of armaments, ships, submarines, planes, tanks, trucks, food products, for home and for the army. They supplied weaponry to Britain and to Russia. They succeeded to destroy the powerful German and Japanese armies. Americans fed the hungry in Africa, in Europe, and in Asia and they were victorious.  After the war they created and managed the Marshall plan, which made the European communities prosper. 

Have we suddenly lost direction and become weak?  The entire world is watching us like a lame duck
I am asking, why suddenly now, and why so fast? They tell us our economy is weak, I don't believe it. The United States is not a small country the United States is as strong as ever before.  We have a crisis, so be it, the economy will recover by itself.  We want to improve health care, let's find the appropriate solution without risking the good we have.

Who is telling us the truth and who is lying to us? Maybe someone is weakening us in order to gain better  control over our lives. We cannot suddenly change our way of life just because someone wants it. Yes, the American people voted for change, but no one told us which change would occur. Who are the people who want us to make so many basic changes and in particular in a field which represents 1/6 of our economy and are spending so much money in such a short time? We should know what kind of past experience these people have. Can we rely just on what they say? Can we trust anyone who did not show any previous experience and any positive records?

These are the questions that every American should ask, not just in town halls, but in Congress, and in the Senate, so that the people may see and be witnesses of any change that could hurt us and our country and engage us and our children. Furthermore, for such a fundamental change, we the people should be required to vote, in order for the Congress and for the Senate to make these changes the way the people intended to.  In my view, as things are going on now, I don't trust anyone. America, we are strong people and with good will, we can solve anything that will benefit every American.
