The Situation in Syria
Since Bashar Assad took over the power after the death of his father, he didn’t provoke anything that would justify now being under such attack from his people, without foreign intervention and interference, either from the Arab countries or any other power. Those who provoked the revolt are responsible for the death of thousands of Syrians.
Those who think Assad will give up his power so easily, while having Iran and Russia backing him, do not seem realistic to me and I dare say, even adventurous, as they do not take into consideration his army, the Halabi population (from Aleppo, Syria) and those who have a direct interest that Syria stay stable.
Until now all the Arab revolutions did not result in what everybody expected. In reference to Israel, it should not intervene in the Syrian revolution without knowing the truth about who is behind those who fight Assad. Even after counting the few defections, Assad and his army are still strong and could do more harm than good. We should only take into consideration what Assad the father did to stay in power and we just have to see what the revolutions in Egypt, in Tunisia and in Libya accomplished.
We can see only misery through lack of confidence and lack of work, and in particular the change of regime. We just have to see who is now in power, to better understand the situation. In Libya, the religious took over the power in the middle of anarchy, and their economy is in disarray. In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood won the elections and controls Egypt with a completely different set of rules and regulations. In Tunisia, the Ennahda, which is parallel to the Muslim Brotherhood won the elections and is putting incompetent people in the administration. They are unable to satisfy the population’s needs, be it economically or culturally, after so many years since Bourguiba’s reforms have changed Tunisia into a modern society.
At this time, Syria has no interest in falling into the hands of Al-Qaeda or the Muslim Brotherhood. I believe that the bad you know is better than the bad you don’t know.
As to the Israelis, it is in their interest to stay out of their neighbors’ troubles.

The truth of the matter is that Muslim culture marries well with authoritarian rule and it rejects freedom of the individual, free enterprise capitalism, tolerance of other religions or other beliefs and lastly, it resists democratic rights and personal liberties while denigrating women. There is little or no separation of MOSQUE and STATE in the Arab mindset. The mosque is a cultural center where religious indoctrination is taught along with stringent Sharia law and ethnocentric-oriented Arab education. Try building a church in either Medina or Mecca and let's see what happens!
Islam is not only a religion: it is also a legal system (Sharia law) and a stringent educational indoctrination system, all three entities claiming to be a harmless religion compatible with western civilization and Judeo-Christian American values!
