I don’t understand why US Vice President Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton were furious against Israel. The plans to build 1,600 housing units in northeastern Jerusalem continued to reverberate over the weekend, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton calling the move “insulting” and the new EU foreign policy chief hinting Europe could use trade ties as leverage against Israel.

They all knew about the same 1600 units for a while. I myself read it many times in the Israeli newspapers. Netanyahu didn’t have to apologize for this.
Is the US the police of the world? We always pretended not to mix ourselves in other countries’ internal affairs, including those countries we call our friends.

We could not keep our word with Israel in reference to Iran's threat for Israel. This issue is more important for the Israelis than any negotiation with the Arabs from the West Bank. The Iran problem is more a question of survival than any other consideration. Ahmadinejad has many times threatened Israel with annihilation. As long as Iran is plotting to build the atom bomb Israel has the right to do whatever it feels appropriate to save its people.

After all, it is almost 43 years since the 1967 war and until today nothing was done to determine the fate of the West Bank, which was lost to Israel from Jordan during the six- day-war (which was provoked by the Arab countries). Israel has no obligation to maintain this lot of land for any people as long as no agreement was reached. As the prime minister of Israel said, the policy on building Jewish neighborhoods in east Jerusalem is not new, and goes back to Levi Eshkol’s government immediately after the 1967 war.

The world should stop blaming Israel, because the Arabs never wanted any peace with Israel and no Arab leader can decide about the West Bank, which in fact is the cradle of the Jewish people and their history in the Bible and was previously under Jordanian authority since it was conquered by Jordan in 1948. The 1967 war just returned the West Bank, including East Jerusalem to Israel.

The Obama policy didn’t succeed to solve any problem in the world or pass any serious bill. If it wants a success story from Israel it should solve first the problems in the United States before attacking any foreign leader’s behavior.
