Even if Netanyahu would let Obama win, I don’t believe that Obama would not keep a rancor against Netanyahu, because he feels outraged that someone who is not American, but speaks American eloquently and knows America well for having studied here, dared contradict him. I believe that even the war that Hamas started was provoked by someone who is not with Netanyahu.  At that time, Obama showed his intention to help Hamas win, by showing Israel that he can stop arm deliveries if he so desires. At the same time, he authorized arm sales to Qatar and Turkey that support Hamas. This scenario is sure to have increased the doubts of Israel about the Administration’s backing. It seems that Obama forgets that the US has always confirmed its “unwavering” support for Israel. At many occasions this proved not to be so.

I understand that Obama, as the leader of a huge nation does not accept that a small country does not follow his advice. He does not recognize the urgency of the situation, which the Jews are sensing, as a threat to the existence of Israel. Even if Israel has stronger means to prevail against Iran, it is not in its interest to open the fight. Obama does not take into consideration the position of the moderate Arab countries, such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, etc, which are opposed to an Iranian hegemony in the region, that has already engulfed Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq.  

In order to understand Netanyahu, we must know his background.

Those who criticize him are sick or jealous of his stature and do not appreciate his qualities. Ms. Livni is neither competent nor courageous; she shows weakness when confronted with critics. She likes to be flattered without deserving it. Her wishes are similar to the wishes of the Israeli left wing. She would like to see Netanyahu lose the election, as she does not know him well enough.

Knowing the Iranians well, and realizing that their leadership is not democratically elected and is ruling the country like dictators Netanyahu is aware of the fact that they never miss an occasion to threaten Israel with eradication. As Netanyahu stated previously, he believes that they are serious about their intentions. They are killers, as they killed the previous leadership and Prime Minister Amir Abbas Hoveida.

Alas Netanyahu’s strong personality attracts negative reactions from people who do not understand him. This is one of the reasons no one from the American and European left like him, as he is smarter than his counterparts. He has gained a lot of experience as he and his brother were among the elite of the Israeli army and were instrumental in the rescue of two hijacked planes.

The truth is that the Americans press and the entire American administration dislike Netanyahu. Netanyahu is closely following the negotiations with Iran and he does not believe in the honesty or the promises of its government. The Obama Administration fears that Netanyahu might unveil facts about Iran that it would rather not disclose in order not to jeopardize the negotiations, but Netanyahu is smart enough to know what to say and what not to say. In my view, Obama is making a mistake towards Netanyahu and the American Jews. Israel is the only real ally the US has in the Middle East.
