As a Life On Purpose Coach, I'm often asked for advice on how to get on
track with living a life on purpose. My response is to "follow the bread
crumbs of your passion." I've done this myself through the years and it's
never failed to lead me to the next level of living true to my purpose. This

Look around your life right now. What is there that you find interesting,
that sounds like it would be fun and/or exciting? What have you seen or
heard lately that sparked your curiosity? If there's nothing in your present
situation that qualifies then look into your past. Stale bread crumbs of
passion will work just as well. If you find nothing in the present or the
past, then turn on your crumb detector so you can find the next set of bread
crumbs that you come across in your future.
You don't have to be able to see all the way down the path to where the
crumbs of passion may lead.... just follow the crumb you can see and feel,
then the next and the next. In the process you'll be training yourself to
trust your intuitive nature and in the process following bread crumbs of
passion will get easier and easier.
This is actually how Life On Purpose Institute was started. I first spent a
few years working on Project Purpose: writing and publishing articles about
people and institutions whose lives and missions were dedicated to a bold
and inspired purpose or vision. While doing that I realized that many of the
people I interviewed share the common elements of "service, simplicity and
spiritual serenity." I also realized that many of them expressed their own
life purpose through some kind of enterprise, for profit or nonprofit.
At the same time I realized I was very curious about the Internet and
enjoyed learning more about web-based businesses. Almost before I knew it, I
had the idea to start Life On Purpose Institute. But I didn't see Life On
Purpose Institute at the start of the journey and I don't fully know where
it may grow.
Most recently, following my breadcrumbs has lead along two interesting,
passion filled paths. One is a collaboration with the Intentional Growth
Center at Lake Junaluska where, in November, I will co-facilitate the
Living & Working On Purpose Mountain Retreat with Kathleen Stolz, a Life on
Purpose Coach from Phoenix, Arizona (www.lifeonpurpose.com/retreat). The
other was to create an online Life On Purpose Community to make the Life On
Purpose Process available to more people throughout the world and to
celebrate Life On Purpose Institute's 10th birthday as a spiritually based
enterprise. (www.lifeonpurpose.com/community). Both have been inspiring me
out of bed in the morning.
Where might your breadcrumbs of passion lead you? By following this process
you'll be training yourself to trust your intuitive nature and in the
process following your bread crumbs of passion will become easier and more
exciting.
