In my high school days I came across a poem whose author's name I cannot remember now, but a portion of it still remains in my memory.

"What I Live For"

I live for those who love me,
Whose hearts are kind and true .

For the heaven that smiles above me
And awaits my spirit too.

For the human ties that bind me,
For the task by God assigned me,

For the bright hopes yet to find me,
And the good that I can do.


During these times when the hearts of men "melt" at the worries of life and are discouraged at the deceitfulness of wealth, taking stock of what counts most in our life recaptures our lost perspective and renews our flickering
hope. It revives our determination to
stand up and keep going.

"I live for those who love me." One way or the other someone loves us, be it
parent, brother, sister, friend, or
marriage partner. Living for them is the best reason in life and continuing to live for them makes every day and every breath meaningful and happy. They are those who silently stand by us through thick or thin, in laughter and in sorrow -"Whose hearts are kind and true ."

"For the heaven that smiles above me,
And awaits my spirit too."
This is a universal truth and an ever present reality. It is a fact we need not fear but must accept as "the way of all flesh." It is therefore important to be assured that you have a "visa" to "the heaven that smiles above you."
He is our Lord Jesus Christ.

"For the human ties that bind me,
For the task by God assigned me,"
Each man has been born with a family, even those who had been orphaned or adopted have relations or human ties
they can connect with and find their purpose in living.

I believe each man was created and brought to life for a purpose, and he contributes to humanity in what he does or says, and if he remains true to that purpose he would have done "the task by God assigned him."

The past is just a memory, the future is but a vision, but today is God's gift, and we call that the present. We look to each day with hope, because we have no other choice but to hope. The wheels of life keep turning and unless it is a flat tire, things will always change for the better. Live "for the bright hopes yet to find you".

Lastly, no matter where you live or how little your possessions are, no matter how small or insignificant you feel your work is, there is something good that you can do. It may be a warm
"hello", a friendly pat in the back, a loving hug, or a comforting word, it is GOOD. Be the best you can be, whatever you are, and remember to live "For the good that you can do."





"Be joyful in hope
