A tribute of sorts in honor of my son's pet rabbit, Bugsy.

This is Bugsy, my son's pet rabbit. I wrote a story about him because of the simple way he touched our lives at a time when there was inner turmoil in our home. My son had a very serious problem as a teenager but amidst his personal struggle I saw a glimpse of his deep compassion for the little rabbit, how it made him smile and somehow helped develop a sense of responsibility in him. I sometimes think that pets are God's instruments of providing joy and comfort to both the happy and the sad, a mysterious way of reaching out to soften hearts hardened by rejection.
