These are thoughts that came to mind, repeatedly, as I sat enjoying the wonderous beauty that our Creator has taken the time, thought, and effort to give to us. He gives us so much...why, for what...what logic does this hold reciprocity-wise? The only explanation...He must really love us a lot! We are so fortunate.
I Sit, And Talk, And Wonder
As the breeze billows around me, I sit and talk to God. Although the words are not uttered aloud, I know that He still hears me loud and clear. For He sits with me, on the front porch swing, enjoying His wondrous creation. He knows I appreciate His love and care, and need His guidance and mercy daily.
We talk un-endingly of His wonders of creation; the beauty, colors, thought, and planning it took to make such splendor seem endlessly mesmerizing, breathtaking, and constantly changing. The magnificence of it all, that sometimes goes unconsciously unnoticed and taken for granted. How could such magnificence, go by day after day, not being exalted in wonder and amazement? How could we not thank Him endlessly for the magnificent world we live in?
Could it be that we spend too much of our time focused on the mundane tasks of life, that are so trite, so demeaning, so unimportant when we pause to compare them to God’s daily miracles?
The joy it gives me just to sit for a few minutes, or maybe even an hour, with my Lord, and Savior, The Creator of The Universe, cannot be measured, or compared to anything here in this country, or on the entire earth. Why? Because simply stated, it is not of this earth. I am sitting with “God”. He is The One who created it all; without Him, there would be no past, no here and now, no future, no yesterday, today, or tomorrow. In addition, without Him in my life, daily, there would be no “real” meaning for life; only the despicable, heartless, self-degradations and actions or reactions to a sick and troubled world, and a shallow mind.
Yes, I relish the valuable, precious moments, whenever I can steal them away from the meaningless tasks of humanity, that I can talk, pray, rejoice, praise, and sing to My Lord, My Savior, and inspiration. I know He is available, no matter what time or what location I am at when I call on Him. He always has the correct solution, but sometimes I do not “get it”, because I am too impatient, self-absorbed, or caught up in lamenting of my trials and tribulations to Him. If I will just “be still, and know that He is God”, and listen with all my six senses, it is apparent “who” is “in control”, and who is out of control.
I can choose to be with God on many levels, utilizing many venues, at my convenience, my time, my choosing. I know God is perfect, but sometimes I wonder, (which I’m sure He might also regularly wonder), why He gave us the “freedom to choose”, the “free-will”, to do as we please, not only in the choice of how we worship Him, and when, but also if we do, or not.
However, the choice seems pretty plain for those of us who take the time to be somewhat pensive as to the necessity of worshipping the “Creator and Ruler of the Universe”, and letting Him have a say in the direction of our lives. I mean, it does not really take a rocket-scientist, (or anyone else who has a logical, reasoning, rationale mind), to figure out, the odds just might be in your favor to have God on your team in the Game of Life, and especially when this “free-will” thing can be invoked, or rescinded, at any time. What is there to lose by giving it a chance or being open to the idea?
The other side of the issue would be wise to ask the same question: “What is there to lose if I don’t give it a chance in my life?” Any gambler or businessman would be remise if he conducted his “game”, or “business principles and decisions” so irresponsibly. Of course, we’ve all seen the “big gamblers” who “shoot it all”, “risk it all”, “bet it all”, on the “long-shot”, the risk of taking the higher odds with the “underdog”. Still, we are talking about “apples and oranges” here. How do you compare risking a few hundred, thousand, or even a million dollars, (also man-made, and highly perishable), to our own and our loved ones’ chance, to not only associate every day, every minute, at our own choosing, with the very Architect of the whole world, of every living plant, animal, and human creature, (not to mention, the very air we breathe)? To take it one step further, why do we risk our only chance at being immortal, living forever, (not just a mere existence, mind you), but enjoying and owning, the happiest, most fulfilling, perfect environment and existence, forever?
What is the price we pay for all this? Nothing, zero, nada, zip, it is all totally pre-paid, fully extended, non-repayable, credit. Who pays anything for you nowadays? Who ever took your debts and paid them in advance; a day, week, month, or year in advance, (not to mention, many thousands of years in advance), without even meeting you, and knowing every intimate thing about you, even the number of hairs on our head, and yes, the naughty, selfish, thoughts of our minds too! Who would do such an unselfish thing? How much would most people pay for us?
How much did He pay for each and every one of us who takes Him up on His offer of never-ending love, care, compassion, and the adoption into the Kingdom of God?
“He gave His only begotten Son, to die for us, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Bible, John 3:16) What a price to pay to give total strangers, eternal life, after they have ignored you, cursed you, blasphemed you, persecuted and rejected you, and even killed you! What a price to pay, to wait centuries, for them whose best and richest is “as filthy rags” in comparison to You. What a price to pay, to wait until they need You, (and realize it), You, God in Heaven, as their Savior and Friend; wait until they chose to “let you” into their lives, (as tawdry, dirty and insignificant as they probably are), so You can comfort, defend, love, nurture, and protect them.
Yes, I am truly thankful and grateful, Dear Lord above, that you give me the time and opportunity to call upon You, at any moment’s notice, any place, for any reason, with my petty, insignificant existence and its’ problems and challenges. You do not say, “don’t bother me now”, “I’m too busy”, “Can’t you see I’ve got my hands full”, or any such quick and thoughtless reply, we tend to regularly give others, and You. The demand, (if only in the number of requests, not to mention the depths and calamities of the requests and resolutions), must be tremendous. However, it is not overwhelming to You, Dear God. Yes Lord, You can, and do, handle it all. You always have time for us, wisdom for us, caring and comfort for us, even if we are too important, and too busy to slow our lives down a few moments or cut out a few activities, to make time for YOU.
