Are You Willing to Die so Wall Street can prosper?

Where is the pressure to open up the country coming from? Who is behind it?

Are you willing to die so wall streets profits?

According to Faron Cousins who runs the YouTube channel, Ring of Fire, Wall Street and large bankers have been pressuring trump to reopen the economy. Trump is apparently acceding to their demands by:

1.     Encouraging protesters to take to the streets to protest various governors to end their shutdown. This of course endangers the public protesters by exposing them to the covid19 virus.

2.     Using a variety of threats to force these governors to open up their states.

3.     Claiming absolute authority to open the country anyway is spite of what the Constitution says he can do.

Since opening the country and ending the shutdown will expose millions more to the virus and create a lot more deaths, Wall Street and Bankers are asking the American public to die so they can get rich again.

We, the public, are forced to answer the question: am I willing to risk dying to save Wall Street and enrich bankers?

I cannot speak for the rest of the public, but I can say for one that I am not willing to risk my life so some CEO at Goldman Sachs can get a yearly bonus. I am not willing to sacrifice my health and the health of my loved ones so Wall Street can prosper. I doubt that very many other members of the public also are willing to sacrifice their lives so Jamie Dimon can get his yearly bonus of several million dollars.

There are counter issues to consider: with 50% of the economy from small business, most of it shut down, I believe about 30%, of mostly low-paid employees, are currently unemployed. Unemployment benefits and the stimulus are slow in coming, inadequate, and generally only fuel the confidence in the stock market rather than getting money moving in the economy.

Most of the unemployed live paycheck to paycheck. They have no savings, no way of borrowing money except through their employers' SBA loans, and few choices in getting supplies and food. Already, the lines here in Houston for food, both at the food banks and schools are huge, while so many wait in their cars for hours with the engine running. Stores are open, but limit access, and are generally in short supply of essentials because of disruption of some of their supply chains.

Those with diseases and needed surgeries who do not have the virus, find it difficult to go to their doctors or get into hospitals to be treated. Many elderly are now cut off at home. If the lockdown continues for a number of months, the cure may be worse than the disease with many more dying at home for lack of care, medicine, or food. Already there is an uptick in domestic violence caused by breadwinners unable to get work taking it out on their families.

All we can do is a staged reopening, hoping we are not letting the virus out of the bag in the process and cutting back if necessary. The key to being able to do this is easy and easy access to testing. Quarantining those found to be positive and symptomatic. And the final solution is a reliable and powerful immunization… On the way, but maybe a long way off.
