My thoughts on SOCOM for PSP. (FYI Slayman is one of my pen names.)

I rented this game for the hell of it about a week ago. Thank god I had the long renting period that I did, or I'd be up to my ears in fees. Online was fun, as it usually is. As soon as I got home, I went straight online and skipped the campaign mode.
Having never played or touched a SOCOM ever in my life, I had no idea what I was doing, and ended up killing myself by pressing a button I had assumed was the weapon select button, more often then not.
After reading the tutorial, it was easy as pie. No worries. This led to advanced gameplay fast. The learning curve is so short, that when you know the basics, becoming a pro is nothing!


Donning my typical Slayman name... I went into battle, and gained many EXPs. And when I tired of this, I tried campaign mode. It's kinda fun!
I could have wished for a more handy sidekick, but whatever. There are so few games for the PSP that utilize the online feature. Sony has set this system up tall and proud. And if development companies don't get behind it, it will fall to the pressure of the ever-growing Nintendo DS.
On a personal note, I've given up on Nintendo as soon as I got my paws on this amazing PSP machine. What do I need a touchpad extra screen for when I have a movie, music, game playing, internet surfing, kick ass hunka-hunka burning Playstation? However, the growing amount of DS games is prodding at my attraction...
I enjoyed Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga very much. I ponder how the parenthood game would play. Or Animal Crossing...
I digress.
Because of the lack of online capable games SOCOM US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo stands as tall as PSP. It's fun, interactive, and full of the jackasses we expect on online FPS's. (I frown at that last bit)

On a similar note, I'd be very pleased if Rockstar got in on this WiFi action... Grand Theft Auto : Liberty City Stories is the best PSP out right now, bar none. Yet, the multiplayer is lacking, because there are so few PSP playing friends with this game, that only one or two of us can get together in head-to-head head-hunting. If this game had the online feature... praise the Sony, that would be amazing. I would be drooling so horribly, that this entire post would be something like this:
