Some of the comments I read about the killing of Osama bin Laden has me completely baffled.  One of the crazy commentators on Fox News—a “judge”:  “What?  The President now has the right to order killing.  Are any one of us next?” 

I guess he forgot Bush’s invasion of Iraq for no good reason.  How many innocents there have been killed?  And we all know Osama bin Laden was no innocent.  Osama bin Laden was a terrorist.  A murderer.  A fanatic who ordered the attack of 9/11 that killed 3,000 innocents.  He was the leader of the terrorist group Al-Qaida that has killed an untold number of innocent people all across the globe.  Is there anyone left on this planet who doesn’t know this?

My daughter asked me, “Is it moral to celebrate someone’s death?”

My answer to her was, “Morality has many definitions.  What most people consider “moral” is based on support of principles for the greater good.  To rid the world of a heinous and reprehensible criminal is moral and a reason for celebration to me.”

Lest we forget, I’ve included a letter from a young man who fought in World War Two.  A young man who felt it was his patriotic duty to fight for his country against madmen in the world.  A young man much like our young men and women today who feel it is their patriotic duty to fight for their country against madmen in the world.  Thank God, we have one less madmen today.

North Africa

Dear Grace,

I just got back to my home port in Africa.  I was sure glad to get your mail because it helps to keep up my morale.  I was unable to answer them as soon as I got them.  You see with all this fuss around here we have been pretty busy.  I guess I saw plenty around here and probably will see more.  You see, it isn’t much fun.  I have sweated out plenty of air raids and some of the time I just could of hear my knees knocking against each other.  I know what these boys are going through out here and it isn’t much fun……
