A. Shigley, author of "Delinquent" (stores.lulu.com/Delinquent) is putting pen to paper again. Shigley's currently hashing out 1st draft ideas for a book about a man in prison, telling his life story in a series of flashbacks, on the topics of football, to life, to sex, to getting dirty and getting caught. Early efforts all point in the direction that this new book will be even more bizarre than the last.
Q. What influenced your decision to start writing another book so soon?
"The strangest book I ever read was "Naked Lunch," by William S. Burroughs. It really threw me for a loop. I remember starting to read it. For 30 pages I couldn't figure it out. I put it down, then started it fresh again several months later when i read it start to finish in a couple days. I was blown away at the time. Later, I realized that i had it in me to write something crazier, something more disturbing, something beyond Naked Lunch's fantasy elements that could be rooted in reality, more believable, and ultimately wilder than any drug enduced literature of a beat generation. This will be that book."
Q. When can we expect the new book to be released?
"I expect this novel to go a bit smoother than the last. With the right amount of espresso (and life willing) I can't see putting another 16 months into this one, but if that's what it takes then that's what it takes. Time will tell."
