Nowadays, one thing that most folks from both sides of the aisle seem to agree on is that we all need to be more civil and understanding of one another … and, in my estimation, this is most readily verified in how we treat the most vulnerable of all in society: the unborn.

“It's time to pray and advance not the agenda of the donkey nor the elephant, but only the AGENDA (The Beatitudes (Mt 5: 1-12) of the LAMB (of God);” to paraphrase an unknown author's quote about immigrant concerns...

It might be helpful for all of us to update the "Good Samaritan" account, so that we can better demonstrate a congruent practice of our faiths in everyday life … and how that pertains to a potential Supreme Court nominee being proposed by our Commander-in-Chief.

It happened that a pregnant woman fell victim to the persuasion of her family and friends to decide to get an abortion, as she was confronted with this difficult situation. They "stripped her" of her long held “culture of life” beliefs and emotionally "beat her" to change this thinking and practice to a “culture of death” - leaving her feeling "half-dead."

Her priest at her parish happened to find out about the woman's situation but chose to "pass by" on the chance to meet with her after Mass one day. He believed that it was not his business getting involved in such "private matters" even though he was "publicly" pro-life.

Likewise, a nondenominational and interfaith acquaintance of the woman became aware of the her predicament, but she also "passed by" on an opportunity to help her when she saw her on the opposite side of a local coffee shop. The acquaintance was noted as being pro-choice and felt she could not impose her beliefs on another person.

But a few humble citizens, Pam and Richard, of "one Baton Rouge" neighborhood, regular sidewalk counselors at a local abortion clinic and the “Planned BARRENhood (PB)” Clinic where the woman was going in for the procedure, happened to see her.

Both the man and woman "approached the victim," kindly greeted her, "bandaged her" with smiles, as well as they "poured out the oil and wine" of compassion over her stressful emotional and spiritual state of being.

They also provided factual information about the biology of life. They "lifted her up" spiritually, and she agreed to be taken by her friend to a care pregnancy center, as well as a local shelter to care for her.

The next day, they both took out two "silver coins" of financial assistance for her basic needs, and brought her to the Woman's New Life Center located next to the abortion clinic and PB.

They also prayed with her and gave thanksgiving to God for all that was being done by other volunteers in taking care to help the woman decide to allow the unborn child to be born and possibly to be put up for adoption.

And they also referred the woman to the local National American Holocaust Memorial, where she could get diapers and baby/maternity clothing if needed, as well as to some local adoption agencies if that was something she wanted to consider as an option.

In addition, they provided info about access to post-abortion counseling and healing available per the local diocese for a friend of the woman, who had reportedly had an abortion the previous year.

Which of these three examples, in your opinion, was neighborly to the woman and the unborn child?

"The ones who treated her with mercy." (Luke 10:37) Jesus still would reply: "Go and do likewise." (Luke 10:37)

Will a new Supreme Court nominee also be as caring for the unborn as noted by the latter two in the example were???

We are so blessed in this Constitutional Republic, “One Nation Under God,” where anyone can civilly and peacefully have freedom of speech, as noted in our First Amendment to the US Constitution … so I am certainly exercising mine.

While I had certainly hoped that the 7th Circuit Bench Judge and New Orleans native Amy Coney Barrett, whom had clerked for the late and great Supreme Cout Justice Antonin Scalia, had gotten selected by our Commander-in-Chief and approved by the US Senate to replace the retiring US Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, I am still very pleased that Judge Brett Kavanaugh was chosen.

Judge Kavanaugh, in his documented opinions, has shown a deep appreciation for understanding the “erroneous nature” of Roe v Wade, and he will uphold the inalienable rights of all unborn US immigrants from being “separated from their families” - especially while in utero… those desperately trying to cross the “cervical border” to “asylum” and a rightful life – especially for minorities, such as African-Americans, whom comprise about 15 % of the US population but unfortunately account for about 35 % of all abortion victims in this country!

And I certainly do also advocate for more compassion and care for all born immigrants seeking asylum in this country ….

Thanks and Godspeed for the Fourth of July we just celebrated ... reminding all of us of the great "freedoms of life choices" we are blessed to have ... why are unborn US immigrants currently denied these rights of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" since 1973???
