I decided to go to a writer's workshop this year, hoping to learn something new about writing and publishing a book. It is expensive but I thought I would see what kind of action my new book would create. I am having a one on one critiquing session with a member from the Irene Goodman Agency. It may or may not prove positive but at least I will learn something from it.
These workshop begin Friday morning, 8:45am until 4:30pm each day. There is time set aside for lunch and breaks. Each day there are different classes, depending on what classes you think is best for you. These classes go through Sunday at 12:30pm. I am positive that these classes have to help or else they would not be having workshops.
Michael Connelly will be the key speaker at dinner on Saturday night. He is one of my favorite authors and I am excited about meeting him and getting him to autograph his book, The Poet and The Narrows. I am also attending a class that he is participating in.
I will be able to sell my book, "Grains of Sand" at a table where many authors will be selling. This includes some of the instructors. Who knows, maybe it will be bought by someone through an agency, publisher, editor, or movie rights. They will all be at the convention. I am excited about meeting so many important people in the writing industry.
After the class is over, I will write an article about my trip. Wish me luck on my new venture.
