Included are Fly Seagull, a warm poignant little work. A Cat’s Habit, gives us an insight into Pookie and every cat I have ever know. Picnic on the Beach paints a lovely word picture to go along with the wonderful photo of a Dutch beach. The Birch Tree, embodies the feelings so many of us harbor about the trees, walls, and objects that were here long before we came. Ah, what stories they could tell. Hoek van Hollands Sandy Beach, presents a lovely remembrance of young love and the wedding of a happy couple. Weeping Willow, is a touching read of death and hope. Allergies, ah choo, enough said. There’s One Robin Sitting In A Tree, offers a lovely moment in a snow when a robin comes to visit. God Waited For Him is a tribute to a loved one while She Has a Temper could be the words of any group of kids when Mama is not quite herself and three charming neuvains. With Poetry From the Lowlands writer Boonstra proves her poetic talent once more in this lovely little work. Boonstra’s poetry is well known to so many of us. Boonstra has a special talent for taking the common things of life and turning them into a charming work of art. Each stanza only gets better. I hope the publisher has plans to present the work as a paper ‘gift book.’ It is the belief of this reviewer that such an offering should do well in specialty shops when a unique gift for a special person is needed. Boonstra’s photos along with Alexa’s illustration fit the poem for which they were chosen. Enjoyed the read, Happy to recommend.
