Soft cover Highly Recommended The Review Meditations In My Favorite Places In Southern Africa begins in the Okavango Delta where the reader is introduced to both the first meditation, a chakra and the color it is associated with as well as a glimpse into the awakening animals of the area. From that starting point Evans continues our journey to Kruger National Park, The Kagroo District, Amatola Mountains, the Eastern Coastlines, Witwatersberg and the Sentinenel in the Drakensberg mountains. Woven into the tapestry of visual offerings of colors, critters, sights and scents found in the African landscape author Evans presents the reader with chakras, lessons and meditations as well. I particularly enjoyed reading the portion regarding the Sentinel area where writer Evans turns our attention to the flight of eagles, the beauty of a gossamer web and the puzzlement of Mushroom rock. Evans’ meditation for this segment guides our understanding to a deeper realization for what mountains have meant to the history of the people who live in our world. The color of this chakra is purple. Gail Evans was born and grew up in South Africa. Following her marriage in 1985 she and her growing young family spent several years traveling the land she loves so well. Her affection for the African terrene is evident in this her third work. Meditations in My Favourite Places in Southern Africa brings the reader face to face with Evans’ regard for Africa in addition to her intrinsic regard in spirituality. The work is what writer Evans calls ‘a travelogue for outer journeys through Southern Africa and inner journeys of the spirit!’ Writer Evans’ Meditations In My Favorite Places In Southern Africa is presented as a travelogue of some of what must be Evans’ favorites of the many reverence arousing areas of South Africa. Many of the areas she brings to our attention are the protected park lands of the country. Each of the seven chapters is filled with a lush description of a particular area, which Evans proceeds to correlate with one of the body’s energy centers or chakras. A meditation complete with data to explain what the chakra means for the reader ends each chapter. The first meditation leads the reader to the color red and the first chakra. We are given an explanation for what a healthy chakra can furnish us and we are told the harm to be derived from an unhealthy chakra. Interesting, Informative read: Highly Recommended.
