Writer Suzane presents an agreeable novel slant

Little do the trio realize that only Wade will survive the trip. Glowing red eyes just beyond the campsite are the first clue the young men have that this is not to be an average campout. Thom Barber perished in a San Francisco auto crash and has no idea that he has become a newborn vampire. Barber knows only that he is driven by a bloodlust he cannot understand or control. Dr. Donovan Reed reads that a body has gone missing from the morgue and surmises correctly that the newborn is on the prowl. Donovan locates Thom and takes him to his psychiatric clinic in rural Oregon where the kindly older vampire sets about helping the newborn understand his new reality. Donovan has had many years coping with his own creature of the night situation and is well able to offer guidance to this new edition to the clan of vampires populating the world. Donovan soon learns about the mauled bodies of two young brothers and their missing companion from the camping trip and sets out to stop the woman he is sure to be behind the brutality. Fifty years ago Cassandra was sentenced to exile in the mountain lair for her barbaric murder of Donovan’s companion Amanda and their young daughter Clare. Donovan has learned to control his own vampirical needs and devotes his life to helping other vampires cope with their situation. He is determined to stop Cassandra whatever the cost may be. I am not a vampire aficionado thus when asked to review this book I was not without reserve. I am happy that I did read in entirety Linda Suzane’s excellent offering of ‘admirable vampire vs baneful vampire.’ The fast moving discourse presented in Captivity DarkHour Vampires: Vol 1 is occupied with well thought out characters, abundant portrayal and nicely conjectured incertitude. Graphic images, skillfully developed landscape, and fiduciary scenario are all present. With the two sides battling for possession of Wade the comely ‘evil’ Cassandra is nearly tragic at times. Donovan as the ethical man coping with his own fierce demons presents just enough perilous edge to make himself a very believable centuries old night stalker who must daily struggle to keep the fiend under control. Writer Suzane presents an agreeable novel slant for the problems faced by vampires living in the human world. This action packed work opens with tumult that pulls the reader straight into the tale and holds fast right through to the closing scene. Well written as in her other works Captivity DarkHour Vampires: Vol 1 is sure to please those who enjoy vampires and are looking for something just a little different. This is not a book for a dark and stormy night when you are home alone and the electric power is flickering nor is it for the squeamish. Not for everyone. Some graphic sex, and the theme IS vampire of a dark and brutal type. However, those who enjoy the genre will be enthralled. Even I would do not care at all for the genre am impressed. Donovan is a hero’s hero, despite his own vampire being I found him a very likeable fellow and was rooting for his success.
