The Beetle and the Berry My resident critics, Osage County First Grade, are starting to read paper books and eBooks. They appreciate the concept that a book can be printed on paper and offered as an eBook for use on the computer. Osage County First Grade enjoys the narrative offered The Beetle and the Berry vis-à-vis a diminutive beetle who discovers an immense, juicy berry. How to get that tasty morsel home is the problem facing Arthur. He must get that berry home. Arthur recognizes that gorgeous big berry is sufficient to feed him for a week. Arthur the Beetle is ecstatic, he has located a fine, large succulent berry. He knows the berry is going to taste so yummy. Arthur commences moving the berry toward his home. Abruptly, the berry stops rolling and Arthur faces a giant sized dilemma to work out. Arthur wants that berry. It is too large to carry, and it is too heavy for him to push home. Arthur must work out a scheme for him to use if he is to get that berry home so that he be able to relish the tasty treat. How Arthur works out his predicament and gets the berry to his house is what The Beetle and the Berry is all about. The Beetle and the Berry is a multi-colored eBook having fourteen pages and is offered as a paper cover book having 28 pages. My resident critics vie for the chance to be the one to sit at the classroom computer office, in one of our reading offices during DEAR reading in order to read The Beetle and the Berry as a paper book or as an eBook. I enjoyed the story line presented on the pages of this chronicle. And is like the occasion The Beetle and the Berry offers for classroom teachers, home school teachers and parents to steer kids to another format for reading. Paper books are here to stay, and, eBooks are also becoming more and more popular. The Beetle and the Berry is a dandy volume leading to student discussion, leading to working out problems and problem solving. The Beetle and the Berry is a work whether as paper or eBook, classroom teachers will find convenient for student’s to use during 'free time reading' and for 'student tutor' use. Home school teachers and parents will find The Beetle and the Berry is a good addition to their home library. eBooks are portable, several can be placed on a CD and taken along on a camping trip, or used in the car during trips, paper books are durable and satisfying to hold while sitting on the front porch in the big rocking chair and reading aloud to the dog or cat. Writer Applefield has produced a number of children’s books. She appreciates what children like and she identifies the vocabulary used in children’s reading books. Animated by his discovery, Arthur tries to get his berry home. He tries several methods for solving his problem. First he tries a head on approach and begins pushing the berry toward his home; he is already planning how much he is going to adore eating that berry. Out of the blue, Arthur’s berry gets caught, and Arthur the Beetle has to work out how to get it released. As the kids read; they commence understanding that from time to time coming at a predicament straight on really does not work. After reading The Beetle and the Berry Little Readers get paper and write three sentences telling how Arthur solved his problem and why his method works better than trying to storm head long into the problem. Every so often a problem can be best resolved by backing off, and coming at it from a new direction. This is an often ‘easier said than done’ life lesson for many adults and definitely for most children to learn. Writer Annie Applefield's The Beetle and the Berry helps present and then strengthen the notion for children in easy to grasp method. The Beetle and the Berry is a read to for the 3 – 5 set, a read with some direction for the 5 and 6 year olds, and a read alone for children who read on a first/second reader level.
