Patrick Cunningham is a handsome man who happened to be in Mullen’s pub when Peggy and her friends drifted in.

Almost before she knows it Peggy finds herself ensconced in a small housing tract overlooking Galway Bay. Today at forty Peggy wonders if she might have made a mistake.

Patrick with his paunch is not as attentive as he once was. Adolescent daughter Sally Ann is driving her mother up the wall. The mother in law from hell is a real pain in the neck.

Peggy walks into her kitchen with an armful of groceries, drops the lot and considers her options.

She sets out in her auto, drives into a hedgerow along the Clare-Galway roadways and takes up with a group of Travellers in their horse drawn caravans. For a time Peggy enjoys the bohemian life with a long haired German Rudi. Before long she discovers his wild infatuation is a real mean streak.

Patrick’s mom has been unsuccessful in persuading Pat to take up with another woman. Patrick has finally awoken to the fact that mam has been less than forthright... decides the old bat is a downright liar and sets out with family mutt Bosco to find Peggy.

Peggy makes a desperate attempt to flee the crazed Rudi, and is hurt in the process. He moves his caravan into seclusion and Peggy fears the worst when Bosco’s barking gives her a little hope.

Writer FitzGerald Petri’s Making Tracks Peggy Does a Runner is an entertaining read, with some real instances of drama. Her characters are all well developed from the vacuous Patrick who finally gets his act together to the pain in the neck teen.

And how we parents can identify with Peggy’s frustrations with that little girl!

The mother in law from hell is a real charmer. I found myself delighted to read of her comeuppance.

Rudi is downright frightening. Peggy is a little silly, however most of us who have been married a long time and wonder if we might have made another wiser choice can certainly understand her motivation.

FitzGerald Petri has ingeniously wrought a tale filled with just the right balance of fright, humor and intrigue.

The scene when Mama is found out and pays for it is a real giggle. Rudi and his madness are set down in a most believable manner. Not to be read after dark when you are home alone.

Dialog is plausible, nicely set down, presented in gritty style sure to keep the reader captivated.

From the outset the reader is carried along on a wild ride filled with excitement and masque.

  Amazon About the Author:   Patricia FitzGerald-Petri was born and grew up in Ireland though she did spend a few brief years of her childhood life in Brazil.  

After school, she studied Graphic Design and Visual Communications at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, and worked for a short time as a freelance designer before moving to Germany.  

After her children were born, Patricia decided against further education in order to catch up with the now new fast-moving world of computer graphics, but instead, returned to a language school in Ireland to obtain qualifications in TEFL, Teaching English as a Foreign Language. At present, she works as an assistant in international business.  

Patricia was an EPPIE 2003 finalist with "Making Tracks", originally published under the title "Peggy Does a Runner".  

She has also written three other novels, "Casting Off", "Over The Wall" and "There and Back", as well as a tongue-in-cheek article on epublishing for Scribesworld called "Frisson of Passion". 

 Patricia's daughters, Jenny and Nadia, are now in their twenties and she lives with her partner in a small Bavarian village. When not writing, she loves sailing, cycling and, of course, reading
