Monsterquest: Bigfoot
Last week I viewed a Bigfoot/Sasquatch program on History channel’s Monsterquest. I’ve watched the program twice, once alone and once with my husband. I’m always excited to watch the new programs on this animal. I, however, remain disappointed in the productions. No matter how well they’re done, it seems they are, at best, only slightly different. The program, “Critical Evidence,” featured Dr. Jeff Meldrum. Meldrum again explained to us the importance of the footprints found of Bigfoot/Sasquatch. Nothing new there, except he did boldly say that in his mind some of these footprints are proof positive that an ape-like animal indeed roams the deep woods of the world. These footprints that he believed proof were of a set of prints, of which one foot was deformed.
In the program, they again rehashed the Patterson film of 1967. You know, where the animal walks through, turns its head and exposes breasts. A costume maker claimed that in 1967 a stretchy fur fabric was not available and so a costume of the quality needed to pull off a hoax was not even feasible; today maybe, but not back in ’67. The Patterson film has not, to date, been proven a hoax.
