“To Everything There is a Season…”
I was reminded of this statement this morning while in the shower. As I pondered its significance, spiritually my mind went to the scripture from whence it comes-Ecclesiastes 3:1, and of course through the remaining twenty-one verses. In twenty-two verses King Solomon gives explicit information which is readily applicable to our society today.
A man of renowned wisdom, who was the offspring of the great King David, speaks knowledgeably about there being a time, a season for all things.
The writer of Hebrews 11 even spoke of the great patriarch Moses by saying in verse 25, “choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season…”
With all the hoopla of the sensational news media today, it’s no surprise to how the “strong delusion” has warped the mindset of even the elite! They do dearly love to refer to themselves as the elite, as if they’re a step above the average American. What they fail to see is that they are getting their day now. This is their season, the pleasures of sin for a season. But, go back and read carefully chapter 3, and see the comparisons in the seasons. For every positive, there is a negative.
It doesn’t matter how rich a person is, it doesn’t matter how highly esteemed he may be, what kind of job title he acquires nor mansion in which he resides. Life is made up of seasons. Sooner or later, the seasons change. And there will be consequences to which he will give account.
Those who claim their own deity, those who denounce the living God of Heaven, those who have by all accounts become self-sufficient, those who readily thumb their nose at the Creator of all things who God Himself says, “before you were formed in the womb, I knew you”, God also declared in Romans 1:21, “Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (Reprobates)
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: (Transgenderism)
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen”. (Strong delusion), they will see a change in the seasons of their life, whether it be in this lifetime or in eternity. “As a tree falls, so shall it lie”, Proverbs 11:3 states. So whatever season we choose before death, when we die we will give account at the judgment. A very sobering fact.
We are living in these days. This is the season which the progressives and liberals are calling ‘their’ day to become whatever they choose to be; and to those who disagree or take a stand against the evils just mentioned in the scriptures, well, we know what is happening and will watch it get even worse in the coming days.
No matter what comes or goes, God’s Word is eternal. He is from everlasting to everlasting. He never changes.
In the natural, here in East Tennessee we have 4 seasons. Each one is distinctively different, but each one brings positive and negative effects. The outstanding reality of this is the fact that no season lasts very long. So, we do what we can to enjoy our favorite season while it’s here.
The same principle applies in the spiritual; there’s pleasure to be had, not only in sin, but in righteousness. May we choose the season of righteousness. “For what is your life? It is even as a vapor, which appears for a little time, then vanishes away.”
