Meditation
by Dehejia Maat

a look at different ways to find balance in ones life.

Wednesday, October 2, 2002

Meditation is at the heart of all religious expression. Buddhism, Christianity, Ausarian, Hebrews, Orisha study and many other religions that I could name, but that’s not my point to name all and everything so lets move to the core of what I'm trying to say.

There seems to be an imbalance of craziness going on in the world that I see. At the same time, it seems to never be enough time to do everything we "must" do. I believe we are not taking time for self. In quiet moments of reflection, I believe we can truly see what’s going on in out lives and what direction we should be moving in. I believe everyone's spirit had a mission from the creator before they reached this place and the only way we can tap into that force that’s supposed to be guiding us is through meditation.

If this is a far-fetched idea, let me take a minute to explain to you what it involves

#1 find a quiet clean space to sit comfortably. A great myth of meditation is that one must sit cross-legged and stiff. This is not true at all. You can sit in a chair, lie down on a bed (be careful not to fall asleep), find a spot in a park on a bench, the possibilities are endless.

#2 Close your eyes and steady your breath in a calm flowing manner

#3 Let your mind clear of all the usual “confusion” that clouds your mental on the every day and focus on something simple like the ocean or anything else that is calming

#4 Listen to the positive thoughts that flow in and out, find one that you believe is beneficial to you and open the door to see where it takes you.

#5 Bring a strong light around you and analyze what you’ve just received, chances are it was divine. Stay in this place as long as you can.

#6 When you feel finished, how ever long that is get up and write down what you experienced and what you believe the message was
