"Mom you’re a pacifist," I said.
"I am?"
"Yes, you can’t stand it even if a plant or animal suffers….You think you have to support Israel, right or wrong, just like you thought you had to support the doctors who gave you bad advice.
You said you were hypnotized back then. You woke up, you said. Mom, it’s against your nature to allow suffering in the world, much less support it. Every time you go against your own nature you are out of your sphere and bad things can happen."

"What would you suggest the Israelis do, then? Nothing? The militant Palestinians want them out of Israel."

"I don’t know. Maybe not know."

"That didn’t work either. The had a ceasefire for a week and they were attacked again."

"Not knowing is different than a ceasefire. I think they should have a period of time where the discussion is that of not knowing. Maybe something God-inspired will dawn on them."

Something dawns on me now: We want to protect the home we believe God gave us. I would imagine that God can take it away if we don’t act like the Jews we were instructed to be. Has anyone who is fighting so hard for Israel seriously prayed? Have the Jews in Israel come together and studied the instructions in the Torah? To figure out how to handle this? I mean, how God who supposedly promised us this land would have us deal with this?

I suggest we take a not knowing what to do break and study the Torah for an answer to this conflict.

And the bottom line is this: the way we are going about dealing with "terrorists" isn’t Working. It seems sensible that that would mean we have to Try Something Else.
