This essay was originally written about eight months before the 2006 congressional election. I wish I’d had the wherewithal to make it available for all those who didn’t vote in what they considered to be a throw away election. It now has disastrous connotations.

After living for the last seven years listening to Democrats refer to the current President of the United States, George W. Bush, as everything from a murderer to a liar and a thief, I am fed up.

I am convinced this country, my country, is under attack. By terrorism? Certainly. But also something far more insidious. There is a metaphorical chasm which is slowly destroying the fibre of the United States of America.

Part of the Democrat’s leadership, ignoring wiser heads, have determined the only way they can win back what they consider to be their rightful supremacy, have corrupted themselves. In so doing, they have driven a crater as deep as the grand canyon between Americans. On one side are the Left Wing liberal instigators whose only goal is to retake control of the government and therefore the money and power of the US. They have convinced themselves and their followers, winning back power is something that must be done at any cost.

The other side, the Right Wing Republicans, have allowed themselves to view these contemptible tactics as simply the lamentable wailing of the now minority party, crying for their lost power. Far too many of these apathetic Republican legislators are concerned more with making sure they have enough backing to be reelected than they are with defending their President and the things he has done to honor the tradition of what makes this country great.

It’s time for some honest evaluation of the facts.

It was in the mid-nineteen-nineties when the world was treated to the, then Democratic President William J. Clinton’s debasing of the Office of the Presidency by demeaning himself, a young female political intern, and everything the Presidency should stand for, by engaging in an act of oral sex with the female intern in the very office the people of his country elected him to govern on their behalf.

Further, Clinton didn’t bat an eyelash while he announced from that highest government office, "I did not have sex with that woman...," and later found it necessary to use a high-schooler’s definition of oral-sex as only being sex for the person performing it, or because fornication wasn’t involved, neither had sex. This being no greater than his ‘on the record’ lies regarding the Paula Jones trial and his succeeding payment of several hundred thousand dollars to avoid formal charges against him. This of course, somehow, exonerated him in the eyes of his electorate.

The DNC rallied behind their man, insisting these episodes were no reflection whatsoever of their President’s character. And besides, the people forgave the guy who gave us such a great economy, by adhering to the Reagan policy until the urge to tax created a recession for Bush’s administration to start with.

He was also the same President who turned down the opportunity to extradite Osama Bin Laden for trial as a terrorist. This, even though he was aware the man held terrorist beliefs, known by any number of Clinton’s own staff and evidenced by an enormous pile of intelligence around the world to be a threat to the US and any other peaceful country, and further, the same man who was implicated as a leader in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. The Great Clinton refused to bring him to the US for trial because we didn’t have the ‘legal apparatus’ to try him. Or some such double talk–- short for chicken livered.

If this only stopped at this point, it would still reflect the character of the DNC’s man as being far more than trivially deficient as a leader of the most powerful country in the world. In many Republicans’ minds, as well as many Democrats, it was criminal.

Sadly, it didn’t stop there. While Saddam Hussein, Iraq’s president defied the seventeen United Nations resolutions to submit to inspections for evidence of weapons of mass destruction within his country, Bill Clinton had the United States in sleep mode. He let the UN do their typical job of talking a lot and doing absolutely nothing.

Let’s face it folks, Bill Clinton was, and is, fully aware the United Nations is barely able to act with compassion for victims of natural disaster, and far worse in matters of ridding the world of despots the likes of Saddam and his henchmen. The United Nations has been, for years now, a world-political stage for sweeping the misdeeds of human-rights violators under the world’s radar from China to Rwanda and without question, Iraq.

While the Democratic leadership suffered through their embarrassment of Bill Clinton they needed a strategy that would win the White House back for them.

Enter George W. Bush.

From the minute he was declared the winner, and the fact the Supreme Court refused to overturn the vote in Florida, Bush was said by the democrats to have stolen the presidency. Never mind that in every conceivable recoun taken Bush's victory still stood. 

From there the Democratic leadership has waged all out warfare against everything this president has done.

Within weeks after 9/11 the Democrats, after standing behind Bush in declaring war against terrorism, began to criticize him for somehow not doing enough to prevent 9/11. Supposedly it was he who failed to act against the Bin Laden threat. The Democrats were for going into Afghanistan, now they are against it. They were for Bush giving Saddam 90 days to comply with the arms inspection, but when Saddam failed to act and Bush began gearing up for war, they remained silent waiting for the troops to be committed.

Then immediately, the same extreme liberal bunch who created the anti-war doves of the Vietnam war emerged and criticized Bush for getting involved in what was no more than a civil war. It eludes me who they thought would be civilly opposing Saddam, since he was systematically killing his opposition for the previous twenty-five years, which, by the way, is a terrorist act.

But they were back again, this ‘Hell No, We won’t Go’ crowd who wrapped themselves in the flag with their tripe about how they supported the troops but not Bush. How is that possible? If they don’t support their President, who sends the troops into harm’s way, how can they say they support the troops? Unless, of course they support only those who defy their president, in which case their support is, in reality, only for the treasonous act of desertion and those few who choose to become traitors.

It astounds me how these patriotic citizens interpret everything involving war as an act of aggression by the US, particularly when it’s a Republican war, and at the same time tell me straight to my face how they think everyone should be free to do the things they want. How can countries with governments as oppressive as Saddam’s was, attain freedom without fighting for it? And if we don’t believe we have a responsibility to help them then who will?

Freedom is for those who are willing to fight for it and guarantee it is a necessary requisite for owning freedom. It is incumbent on us, as a free country, to go wherever we must and do all that’s necessary to spread our message of freedom through out the world. Until every person, worldwide, has the right to freedom, we ourselves are not free, it’s not at all so easy as to simply say we’re free if we’re not willing to go all the way to ensure everyone has that human right.

Once the DNC had succeeded in rousing the old cries of ‘we need to bring our men and women home’ the rest of the world had good reason to sit back and do nothing. Obviously, they think America doesn’t have the courage of her convictions. Now, it’s easy for the Democrats to sit back on their haunches and randomly fire off their ‘talking points’ which have no basis of fact, but do have the specific intent of further demeaning the President entirely for political purposes. Their motive is obvious... misplaced revenge for an alleged wrong done to Bill Clinton, their icon of power, the symbol of liberalism at its very worst.

That is the Metaphorical Chasm. It is a deep and treacherous void which will require extensive mending of the country’s moral infrastructure.

The Democrats have an enormous debt to repair the damage they have intentionally caused at the expense of the American people. Hopefully everyone of them having a part in the debacle of lies and half-truths and completely unproven accusations will be called to task.

It is a huge hope with very little to support it ever happening because of the evil which pervades the current leadership of the Democratic Party.

{This piece is even more appropriate now than it was then. It is also a wake up call to the RNC and NRCC and all conservative members to realize exactly how Democrats used their blanket hatred of Bush to gain back majorities in the Senate and Congress.

Now more than ever the constant jumping from one side of an issue to the opposite has become a common deceitful tactic of the left. We all, as patriots and as Republicans, need to be calling attention to these tactics. We need to document the inconsistencies and ensure the general public is made constantly aware of them.}
