Thinking Creatively In Cyberspace



As writers we’re all committed to a variance of time in being as creative as want to be. We want our presence to be felt and allow vehicles we use to get to desired levels of success define our talent for maximal results. We endeavor to use websites and other marketing ploys to market our products and let the world see that we are and what we have to offer. Thus, how time is spent can truly be attributed to being as good as your last book or article submitted. Moreover, It can determine how productive you are and how much money you make or lose. The task of writing like an expert and being creative in the age of information technological wonders is easy to conceptualize but not always easy to execute. Writers always seem to throw obstacles in the way setting themselves up for ennui and the bane for everyone real or imagined -- writers block. Whether one admits it or not, it all comes down to how we manage our time and being productive with it. What’s the secret to becoming creative in cyberspace? How can we utilize all of the things we have at our disposal working within the Internet?



It’s a know fact that there’s no perfect cut and dried way to attain an ideal model…nor do any two writers have the same modus operandi. As a Research Analyst and Demographer, I’ve learned techniques that have made my writing just that much within the realm of acceptability. I like for my data (bases) to flow contemporarily in an orderly fashion. Let’s face it, an article or a book, like a good meal, must be arranged properly with the type of information you’re seeking. But before you get to that stage you must plan an outline for research methodology to work for you. This is that flow-chart effect that should be in effect. It’s so easy to get lost in cyberspace finding levels of inspiration for creativity to flow in the right direction. If used inadequately, you may find yourself lost, listless, and languid waiting for that creative spark to elicit initiation. There should be just enough of each portion, not too much or too little of this or that.



More often than not our day jobs render us slaves to the computer, and information technology is yet another subliminal way to subject us to applied dependency. Adhering to the aforementioned, I assumed the last thing in the world I’d want to do would be to sit right back down at the slave driver and invite any form of lustfulness to run rampart to utter boredom from the internet’s vastness. The purpose of this essay is to invite changes to how you’d want to arrive at anyway to initiate the creative spirit for effective inclusion. Alas, I’m happy to report that all it takes is an initiative to awaken a new sense of awareness in taking that extra step to let effective research work for you. The World Wide Web in general and the Internet specifically has turned out to be the best tool to implement all of the above. If you’re a writer or a reader you’ll be able to think creatively and benefit in cyberspace from a few tips I’ve discovered to make that thinking cap radiate with inspired vigor. Here’s what I’ve come up with to start the process:



Surf the Internet for applied knowledge: To do this, one must already have the search engines intact with keywords. The better vehicles to use are Google http://www.google.com, Dogpile http://www.dogpile.com , and other metasearch operatives.


Organize and evaluate your information: This is critical. Too much information and/or not enough information can hurt. You must be able to disseminate it to areas where needed, and not allow it to stifle and force you to be disjointed and out of sync.


Shaping and refining ideas: Once you know where to go after gathering your data, it would behoove you to learn to the art of discernable differences to allow your idea(s) to multiply into other ways to generate meaningful thought, thus sharpening your idea’s focus for a more compelling pitch, and ultimately for a better story.


The importance of research and approaches to research: Facts do more than simply create the impact of reality in an article or a story idea – they also determine structure and order. Effective online research will spell the difference between success and failure. You will need to have a better overview of the vast resources available in cyberspace and how to use it to your advantage.


Understand and know the importance of Time Management: All the information in the world will not help you to be a better writer if you do not use your time well, and learn how to prioritize.


These are my mantras, the roadmap that I use when I write. I made a conscious decision to redefine creative spirit and reassess ways to allow others to know that there’s yet a method to the madness. Sometimes all that is needed is a controlled way to write without being burdened with indecision and exasperation. Although your decision has long been articulated in various forms of interaction, one must know that in order to ideate intrusively, the Internet must be tamed and used in a way where it won’t use you.
