A biblical reference and analogy to the potential and destined glory of the Black race.
“ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
1 Peter 2:9
People of color should look no further than historical content and Biblical reference for incentives for encouraged success and motivation beyond adversity for challenged initiatives. I borrowed Marcus Garvey’s proclamation relative to his belief of who we are. The biblical verse coloring Peter’s dissertation says it all --we are chosen. And like Israelites before us, we were reluctant and recalcitrant in allowing divine intervention to give directives for better lives. As I reflect on what needs to be done to improve our social standing, I applaud viable solutions to make us accountable and acceptable as a force to be reckoned with. I revel in any plan of action that gives a directive. I implore and castigate those naysayers that will not comply. I’m tired, as you should be of second-class denomination and institutional racism. You should welcome those that He is directing to give us yet another chance. As such, I don’t mind allowing the likes of a Tavis Smiley taking initiatives for a broader picture and a good backdrop for change. It’s all about claiming victory and instilling the necessary self-esteem to know that it can be done. We are chosen…
When God intentionally invited us into a personal relationship, He gave us much more than a better place in line, He instructed us to go to the head of the line…hold your head up for the first will be last and the last will be first! Through Him implied security is not a moot point but guaranteed. He slapped luck, chance, happenstance, and accident in the face and dared the adversary to challenge. His people will not be denied! We don’t have to hope that we are valuable and were created to make a difference: We should know it. God through his son Christ Jesus knitted together the scattered pieces of broken lives and came up fabric that fits all, creating a spiritual quilt that heralds the diversity of the Kingdom for all that labors faithfully. In fact, we can no longer be confused with spiritual nomad or confessional vagabonds – we must circle the wagons and take control of self, family and community. We have a home and a God. Those of us who believe are not just any group of people…we are those that were called to serve, celebrate, and stand on God’s premises and promises.
