Back in the day when more villages were raising boys, the die was cast and it solidified into a viable foundation to try, train, and tighten the reins of raising respectful children. The key was having the home to be the central logistical place to allow discipline to dictate how long and how much. Flash back to today’s world and lament the fact that not only have times changed, but the challenges have reached epidemic proportions. Things have gotten so out of control that the bailiwicks that have been stalwarts of the past have been eroded and abandoned. It’s not far-fetched to say that the church is the last bastion of hope to galvanize a nurturing plan to instill self-worth for esteem to emulate a ‘can-do’ attitude. Where other measures have run into red tape, there’s hope in many quarters that a back-to-basics approach is needed. Churches all over are initiating programs and fashioning sermons tackling the issue. Change and challenges are eminent. At Koinonia Worship Center & Village (KWC) in Pembroke Park, FL they are on point expanding the concept! Every Tuesday night of each week between 7:30 -- 9:00 PM there's a  policy and procedure to exact change and give boys broader chances at success. What’s at stake, how is it to be raised, and to what extent you may ask?

   Enter innovative and daring options for boys from ages 8 to 18 to make a difference spearheaded by the church's Men’s Ministry under two separate entities blending into one agenda -- the long-standing Distinguished Gentlemen (DG) and the KWC Community Development Initiative programs that are educating them for career, social and self-esteeming values through a Rites of Passage program module transitioning them from boys to men. This is a year-long program for maximal effect where the ‘can do’ mentality will manifest and incorporate the spiritual themes learned with the DG ideologic. In order for it to work, Elders and Deacons are in place continuing to bait the hook! Yes, the traditional use of a call and response technique practicing what is  preached by giving them chances to gain back what has been lost -- individually and collectively, real or imagined. We will dance like David, sing to heaven's delight along with the Angels and jump for joy with Jesus' blessings as the undertaking of this formidable task has. begun. The Elders are primed and poised getting the boys whipped into shape. They encourage who are interested come and bring a boy!
