People everywhere are having trouble understanding the New Age or New Thought movement. Fundamentalists and Evangelicals mostly believe that spiritual guidance can only come from God or Jesus or the Bible. New Thought individuals believe that God is inside each and every one of us and that prayer can be answered in unlimited and unexpected ways. They believe that God is the Universal Life Force, unconditional, and without limits. Since God created all that is or ever will be, God is the “All That Is.” All a person has to do is “ask (for anything) and it is given” every time. The answer just may not show up in the way it was expected. Most New Thought individuals believe that God’s angels can also be referred to as “spirit guides.” The soul lives forever, so every person who has ever lived, or will live on Earth exists somewhere as a part of the One God or All That Is. Any time that One Soul decides to come into a physical body to learn something new, why can’t it separate out a fragment of itself to live out the intended lesson or experience it is curious about? Each lifetime that is lived gains new knowledge, understanding, and empathy that can then be deposited back into the knowledge base of the One Soul/God when that lifetime is ended.
The Magi of Futurity is a fictional tale that attempts to describe the concepts of spirit guides, channeling, and reincarnation in an easy to understand manner. Many stories are told in the Bible, like “David and Goliath” or “Cain and Able” to show examples of behaviors and the consequences of those actions. The Magi of Futurity is a similar story, told in two parts, that attempts to make a bridge between religious beliefs and New Thought spirituality.
Part One - Magi Endreema - introduces a 14-year-old girl named Anita who is growing up in a rural setting during the depression era. By repeating a simple prayer, Anita opens a line of communication (while in the dream state) to a future aspect of her soul group who is studying to become a Dream Doctor. For two magical weeks in December 1932, Anita’s consciousness is expanded to help her learn the secrets to living a happy life.
Part Two - Spiritual Puberty - reintroduces Anita as a 33-year-old woman just coming out of a divorce, who once again is seeking the elusive state of happiness. Magi Endreema, her spirit guide, returns to help her through this painful stage of her life. This time, Anita is able to open a conscious channel of communication with her spiritual counterpart. While this simple, sweet story answers some of the most basic questions all seekers of happiness are hoping to find, it also provides honest insight into the beliefs of many New Thought individuals.
The author, Judy Mezen, has been a spiritual seeker all of her life. She became intrigued with the study of hypnosis in the mid 1980s. She became a Registered Hypnotist and Past Life Regression therapist for six years. This is her first novel.
