Is she the new he? Lindsey Lohan is doing it and Cynthia Nixon done it. Why do you suppose so many wives and girlfriends of all ages are ditching their men and falling in love with other women?

Is she the new he?

Gay women and men are not only coming out of the closet, they are breaking down the walls of intolerance for all except the narrow-minded. So are shows in prime time like Will & Grace. It is one of my favorite shows. Why are women of all ages so over men? If you watch Divorce Court, Judge Judy or Judge Joe, it is not hard to figure our men are failing to meet our needs. Women are survivors. We go with what makes life easier for us. Statistics tell us even the gray generation is “switching.” Are men becoming an endangered species? Prime time shows are based on it. From New York to L.A., Miami, and even St. Louis, the gay sensibility is rubbing off on receptive straights. At 62 even I enjoy the song Katie Perry sings “I kissed a girl and I liked it!” It is quite catchy for the gay, straight and/or post-straight. It seems like gay men are rewriting the rules of what it takes to be the ideal man. Check out the latest magazines even the straights are looking gayer. Most have bedroom hair, six-pack abs, and a healthy-looking buff body. Some of our pot-bellied husbands need to exercise their right to be as good looking and healthy as the gays. Unfortunately, it takes more than a matter of working out, waxing, and wearing Prada to please a woman. Mostly importantly, they need to start treating women the way other women—and most gay men—do, with respect.

Just for fun, all biblical thoughts aside, ask yourself the question, “If you woke up female/male, who would you turn gay for? Angelina Jolie? Brad Pit? How about Clooney or Obama? Who is your dream partner? My dream partner would be Tom Sellect, Jennifer Aniston and/or Angelina. Maybe learning to tap into true power of intimacy is not a matter of gender. We don’t have a big choice. Him or Her. Tails or Heads. He or She. We are all so fine when we’re in love. Most women are looking for Prince Charming and most men looking for the one woman that is perfect. Must we look outside our gender for our perfect mate? Be they straight or gay, women and men who are lonely turn to whoever is available; to whoever makes their life a little easier; and, to who loves them unconditionally.

Be they straight or gay, women and men who are lonely turn to whoever is available; to whoever makes their life a little easier; and, to who loves them unconditionally. Our men are sadly losing their right to be with women sexually or otherwise because of their selfish ways, abuse and lack of desire for us. Women are finding out what men have known all along. It is easier to spend time with other women.

It is interesting to note that men and women are both feeling let down by the opposite sex. It may be the burden of economics or not enough time, however, even our young people are looking outside their own gender for compatibility and intimacy. On television gays are styling straight men in the art of courting women, dressing and cooking.

A good pick-up line for a gay would be “Hi, there!” The gays are always honestly receptive. How cool? I'm afraid our men becoming socially outcast as husbands, companions and/or fathers because of their bad dispositions, lack of trust and just plain stupidity and lack of kindness towards the women in their lives? Maybe, science is right, sexual intimacy begins and ends in the brain not the groin or pelvis. You men know who you are that need to redirect your energies to your woman. Like It

I enjoyed your article very much Joyce. It's very well written. I've had numerous relationships and have been married three times. Divorced twice, widowed the last time. I'm heterosexual but believe a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. Men have changed over the years I've lived and i don't favor the changes. As far as the rest of it goes everyone has a right to be exactly who they want to be. To live life to the fullest and give and receive love is all that's really important. Which sex one chosses to love is their business and I support them without prejudice. Just save me from the fashion plate male.
