Nightmare transformed into dream of a lifetime By: Molly Haines

In April of 2007, Jonesville native Ken Parker was in a motorcycle wreck on Stewart Ridge Road that nearly killed him.
Little did Parker know that just over a year after the wreck he would be getting letters from publishing companies wanting to publish his first novel.
It all started when Parker was in the seventh grade at Grant County school. His teacher gave him an assignment to cut out 50 pictures from magazine articles and write a poem for each. Ever since then, Parker has had an interest in writing.
"I remember going to my grandmother-she's a retired Owenton Elementary school teacher, Georgina Satterwhite- she looked at the poems and told me that I'd be a writer someday. That always stuck with me." said Parker. "I always wanted to write a book, but never had time until after my wreck. Then I had all kinds of free time."
The book was written under the pen name of Kenny Lee and inspired by his love for his fiance, Debbie Henry. The title is "Thundering Hearts:The Razors Edge."
The story tells of Landon and Joan, a biker couple from Northern Kentucky who began receiving threatening phone calls and eventually death threats. During a weekend getaway to the Smoky Mountains, the couple realizes that the antagonist, an outlaw biker, is after them to avenge his brother's death.
"Landon and Joan are what bikers are like today. Back in the sixties you had all of the outlaw biker movies and everybody was scared of bikers. Today everyone rides bikes, doctors and lawyers- people from all walks of life," said Parker, "Joan and Landon are fine examples of what today's bikers are like."
After writing the novel, Parker took on the task of sending his manuscript to various publishing houses. It was accepted by Publish America. Parker is currently reviewing the manuscript and editing it for publication.
Once the novel is published, Parker plans to donate 10 percent of his royalties to the March Of Dimes:Ride for Babies.
Parker has already begun writing a sequel to his novel and plans on making a career of writing.
Thundering Hearts:The Razors Edge will be sold at Cammacks Sporting Arms in Long Ridge, Barnes and Noble book stores, Short "T's" Cycles in Richwood, and The Barn Bike Shop in Dry Ridge.
"Everybody that has read it so far can't put it down" said Parker. "It's such a good story. The main point of the book is how love and faith can conquer all, and how love and faith equals triumph in the end."
