Landon and Joan were only on the road for twenty minutes when Landon saw blue lights flashing in his mirrors. He pulled off onto the shoulder of the road and shut the bike off.
"GET YOUR HANDS UP IN THE AIR NOW!" the policeman shouted. Landon looked in his mirror and saw the policeman standing there with his gun pointed at them.
They raised their hands up, then the policeman told Joan to get off the bike slowly, then instructed her to lay down on the ground face first, with her hands out to the side. Then he instructed Landon to put the bike on the kickstand and to get off slowly.
"I have to hold the bike in order to put the kickstand down," Landon told him.
"DO NOT MOVE YOUR HANDS! KEEP THEM UP AND GET OFF THAT BIKE NOW BOY!" the policeman yelled. Landon swung his right leg off the bike and let it fall over into the ditch. He cursed under his breath when the bike crashed to the ground. Another cop pulled up and handcuffed them both, putting them in the back of seperate cars.
"What's this all about?" Landon asked when the cop got in the car.
"We don't take to kindly to people like you around these parts. We know that you are part of that outlaw motorcycle gang that has been terrorizing people in two states now. We knew you would be splitting up to get across the state line," the cop said with a smirk on his face.
"You have the wrong people. Just because we ride a bike, doesn't mean we are the people you are looking for. That's how people thought back in the sixties. Run my license and you'll see who I am," Landon said, trying to not let his anger show.
"You have the right to remain silent boy, and if I was you, I'd exercise that right.," the cop said angrily.
