Despite the rumors and beliefs that man and woman are compatible I totally disagree. Men and women are as much different than night and day. People marry in hopes that they found the person that is compatible to them; only to find out after the ceremony that they were as different as night and day. What you saw in your dating period was just a little of what was really inside that person. Thats not a bad thing, God never meant for man and woman to be compatible, what one do not possess the other one does. What is suppose to compliment one another often make the other spouse angry but God's plan will work if we develop tenacity, strength, and staying power to endure whats uncomfortable to us.
I remember one of my friends who had been married for 25 years saying to me, this is it, it's over I can't take it any more, but before she could get to the divorce court God had turned the whole situation around.
Another acquaintance went all the way to divorce court. Stayed divorce a few months and later remarried the same man. The marriage is beautiful and better than it was at first. Never say never, even when it appears to be over; God has a way of resurrecting dead situations.
Love causes many emotions. Its like a roller coaster ride. It takes you on a high and then their are times when it seems to drop you so low. When its good you feel protected, safe, warm, nourished, joy, happiness, and so much more. But when it takes you on a low, you feel unloved, unwanted, rejected, unprotected, broken, crushed, no joy and no excitement.
Despite the challenges, marriage is beautiful when God is at the center of the reunion. God teaches you to say what can I do for you and not what you can do for me?
Here are some keys to a successful relationship:
(1) You must communicate
(2) Make time for intimacy
(3) Share your heart
(4) Laugh, talk, and listen
(5) Be open and honest
(6) Agree to disagree
I have been married for 33 years. My husband and I had a large wedding for our 25th year. Thirty three years later I wouldn't want to be with out him. He is my best friend. We grew together through the hard times, challenges, struggles, and pain. It is during the difficult times that we learned we could either blame one another or we could work together and find the solutions to our problems. We found that whenever we get disconnected in our thoughts, attitudes and bodies, God is our way back to each other. God softens the heart so that we both feel the need to apologize and move forward.
Marriage is hard work but anything worth having is worth the work.
Ah this is quite true - only if both partners obey God's Word on mariage. As they say it is a partnership - and when one refuses to be a "partner" then mariage can't go on solo. We may want the best for our mariage and may do all we can, but a man still has the free will and the choice to stay and make it work. If he decides to leave and take on a different lifestyle, holding on will only destroy the remaining "partner". That was me.
