Today is an important date in U.S. history. It's a day when Congress will put a black mark on the history pages that tell Donald Trump and the world that we disapprove of him and his presidency. You can say that only the Democrats disapprove, but that would not be true . Nearly all honorable men and women of goodwill disapprove, and that includes many Republicans, Independents, and residents of this world regardless of who they are or where they reside. Our representatives in the people’s House of Congress speak for most of us—not often—but today is one of those rare days when they will put their indelible stamp of disapproval on his Presidency. It is a dishonor that will forever identify his presidency

My biggest objection with him surfaces in the effluence of those 14,000+ lies that he has told since assuming office. Think of the words to his oath of office: “I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. So help me God.” 

With his first lie he disgraced himself as our standard bearer. With his second lie, he broke the bond he had with us, with our heritage, and with our posterity. After that, he became answerable to Congress in general, to the House of Representatives in particular, and with the Democratic majority that we elected.  For the balance of his lies, he also has Karma and Providence to deal with later.

He will no doubt claim exoneration or vindication when any number less than 67 senators fail to convict and evict him sometime next year.  But although he has filled his pockets with ill-gotten gains taken from the pockets of all who live here, he can never buy his way out of the quagmire of his own making. Perhaps we will leave him just enough time to build a fake wall around the swamp he promised to drain but couldn’t.
