Expanding Consciousness - Hidden Factors

[Voice from the Other Side - Sha'Tara EarthStar]

"If today you can look at any of your belief systems which yesterday you considered essential in determining who you are and can declare them no longer needed, know then you have awakened to the state of expanding consciousness."

This is not to say that old beliefs can no longer have validity in some context.  It is simply an expression of independent thinking.  Like the child outgrowing a tricycle to experience the exhilaration of freedom found on a bicycle.  The tricycle does not have to be destroyed - it can go to a younger sibling.  Take this further: in changing circumstances, the tricycle can be modified and become a mode of transport to carry heavy goods a bicycle cannot - as is done in some so-called "underdeveloped" places.  [Don't carry these analogies too far - analogies have short reach!]

What is "life" but a mad quest for self-expression?  If we project all that we know in every possible "direction" our mind can conceive, what do we find?  Emptiness?  Chaos?  Order?  The ineffable?  No.  What we find, if we are seriously looking, is a torrent of self-expression, from the sub-atomic to universes.  "I Am" becomes the driving force called life.

Then what?  Self-expression bursts upon the stage and endlessly upsets the equilibrium - unless some form of order is impressed upon it.  Enter the realm of the creators, avatars, guides, guardians, makers, weavers, shapers and watchers.  These exist in every form, everywhere that life expresses and evolves.  Selfishly, mindlessly or selflessly these shepherd their "flocks"; their spheres of influence, their worlds or their chosen or assigned individuals.

Left to its own devices, life would be nothing but a self-destruct mechanism of predator and prey.  In its raw state, it only knows how to feed its hunger and it adapts its feeding frenzy to whatever comes.  Entire galaxies disappear in the blink of an eye, swallowed without a trace.  Giant asteroids attack and blast worlds, extinguishing life.  A human shoots a deer - or another human.  A warbler pulls a larva from under a leaf to feed its young.

When "things settle down" after billennia of chaos, as on this solar system for example, it is easy to assume that "it" just happens.  We, resultant effect of what went on earlier, cannot know (until we awaken fully to a state of expanding consciousness) of the forces at work behind the planning of a solar system.  We may sense a divine hand in the ordering, but we cannot define it, except in religious terms.  Yes, there were and are, intelligent forces at work here - and everywhere else.  Not always in agreement either.  There is conflict.  Sometimes, this conflict has led to war - galactic, universal, even cosmic in scope.  We can see the effects of these wars in our surroundings and in ourselves.

[quote] "And there was war in heaven..." [Revelation 12:7]

Now we can either forget about that past and believe that "God's in his heaven and all's well with the world" and all that.  Or we can begin to sort out what our "next move" should be.  Having received the gift of life and having survived this far because of great sacrifices made by others, mostly unknown entities, perhaps now we begin to ask, "And how do I repay this to you?  How do I take my place among those who guide, mould and heal along the path of self-expression?  Simply put, now is the time for the question of the adult:  "Can I help?"

An interesting observation from my teachers, for those who believe in that traditional, quintessential heaven where everything is perfect.

"How do you suppose this illusion of "perfection" is maintained for those who choose to enter this place of rest?  Heaven is the place provided for those who want to go on living but have yet to understand that life is endless commitment to travail.  Those who have decided not to engage the process that "life is pain".  The heavens (there are many!) are maintained by those others who continue to engage the process of life.  For every "soul" whiling away time in heaven, another lives in the shadows, toiling to bring forth sense from the madness, light from darkness.

Every heaven is supported by the self-sacrificing nature.  Were it not so, whether as a heaven or as a hell, the process of life would end in entropy.  For this illusion to work - we are, after all, in the process of saving as well as the betterment of life - the occupants of "heaven" are led to believe that those whose travail makes their little holiday possible, are residents of an immortal state of damnation in hell -- the damned.

It is no stretch of expression to state categorically that "the fires of hell fuel the comforts of heaven."  That explains why "hell" must be as "eternal" as "heaven" - the two concepts inextricably linked in time.

An analogy: imagine the great steam-powered ocean-going cruise vessels of your recent past.  While the beautiful, glamorous people partied on deck, or in the ballroom, soot-covered, sweaty men toiled in the furnace rooms, feeding coal to the fires of the great engines, adjusting pressures, receiving orders from "on top" to vary speeds.  To the people above, these dregs of humanity who made life possible aboard ship simply did not exist.

"As below, so above."  -- an uncomfortable truism.

Very good, Regis. I love the explorations of 'Independant thought', sort of a 'spelunking of the brain'...

A fine exploration of the concepts and inclinations that tend to shape human destiny, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. the analogies are quite apt and make some powerful points. An invigorating read.

I am having a bad diabetic day, so any sort of in-depth analysis of this is a no-go. I will only leave you with this. When people learn to not begrudge those "on top" and endeavor to make it up there is they want to, they will be happier. You make it sound like that captain of that illusionary boat had always been at the helm of that ship, but not all of those "on top" were born there. Is there class distinction? Of course. But a lot of that class distinction comes from those down here with you and I (speaking for myself actually) is directed toward those "on top," not understanding one damn thing about their lives or how they got there. Those toiling, sweaty men who make that boat run can start taking night courses, or some such thing to begin climbing that ladder of success. Your constant theme is class distinction, but whether or not you agree with it or not there shall always be class distinction. Ever read "Animal Farm?"

That was a very interesting write. I must admit I agree with it at least to a great degree. I have said for a long time now that we each make our own Heaven just as we each make our own Hell. How we live our lives here and what we learn from the heartaches and the troubles are more important than the problems, themslves. There was a war in Heaven. It still goes on here on Earth. There are forces which we cannot comprehend, one working quietly to save us from ourselves and one working feverishly to bring us down. The question is which one will we cleave to? At one point or another in each of our lives I believe we have all found ourselves cleaving to one or the other but not to both.
What then? When we die we float a way or is Heaven something deeper. Is it more fulfilling? Is it a chance to grow further than our mortal bodies and souls have the capacity to grow? I believe it is just that. Just it is I don't know but it makes me want to know more.
God Bless,
