An article by Sha'Tara...

     What is 'The World?'
[thoughts of a  ~burning woman~  ]

A few weeks (months?) ago I was asked to define what I meant when I used the term 'the world' in my writings.  I know I should not have been, but was nevertheless, surprised that the term brought up the question; that it needed defining.  How fast, how far, have the people's understanding fallen in these last years!

Even a few years ago in this pseudo-Christian country, such a question need not be asked.  'The World' was not a technical definition of a material entity, such as a planet (Earth, for example) or a combination of such (the solar system, for another example) but something more, ineffable and always inimical.  'The World' was evil personified.  All of the things people did that ran counter to the so-called 'Law of God' were due to influencing and pressuring by 'The World' and those who serve such an entity.

I hope I don't have to define the 'Law of God' here - sufficing to remind all that truly just laws are derived from it.  No escaping that.  Another quick reminder of what I mean by the 'Law of God' would be simply a virtuous lifestyle - make of that what you will.  It, of course, goes much deeper for those who seek avatar status.

'The World' then is that which sets itself up counter to the 'Law of God' and which causes people to 'sin' - ah, another word that has lost all meaning in this wonderful New Age of meaninglessness - which means, that causes people to do harm to each other and to their environment.  Those who live by the promptings of 'The World' ('The 'World' has no law as such, but is an amalgam of chaotic, utterly destructive and mindless thinking) live self-defeating lives even while trying (and pretending) to make those lives better.  I think we can see enough of that all around, I do not need to belabor the point.

That's what 'The World' does, but what is it?  Christians would describe it as Satan, or the spawn of Satan.  But what is Satan?  Even I cannot be certain of that because it is a creature of myth; the ultimate bad guy among a plethora of bad guys.  I can do better than simply relegate 'The World' to a symbol of evil.

What has the power to make Earth people (some take exception to my people calling them [you?] Earthians as if somehow that was a derogatory term: it is not.  It is an accurate description of ISSA beings living on a world they insist on calling Earth and home) do things any reasonably intelligent person can see as negative, destructive, conducive to degeneracy through the various stages of criminal behavior.

What is it that so blinds the Earthian "soul" that it continues to repeat the same horror; go through the same vexing performances, day after day, knowing that nothing good can come of it on the long run?  What has the ability to so mesmerize Earthians that they cannot remember yesterday's mistakes and proceed to make them over today,  and each time plunging into them a bit deeper, thus spreading the problem exponentially?

What then, is 'The World'?

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,  against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."  (An actual quote from the book of Ephesians).

Who are these entities we cannot see, but who exert such force upon everything in this world, not just Earthians?  Whoever they are, they are the ones I mean when I use the term 'The World' and they in truth are the real source of our misery.   Earthians are programmed, literally, to do their bidding.  Only through self-empowerment and all the very real personal struggle and even trauma such empowerment entails, can one 'escape' their depredations within our minds and our hearts.

In actual fact there is no 'escape' from them.  To enter into conflict with them through personal choice of an alternate way of thinking which guarantees an alternate lifestyle means to enter into a battle of will that goes on to the end of time.  And that explains why they are so successful even when it is obvious that to believe them and follow them is to deny life.

It remains a truism that few are those who would take on such a Homeric struggle which does not appear to ever resolve itself.  Who is equal to such a task?  Yet if we do not enter this fight, what are we?  Do we not remain slaves to our selfish desires; our short-sightedness, our meaningless passage through life to end in whimpering death?  Does the love we would so much like to experience not continue to elude our grasp; do we not remain without compassion; are we not already dead in spirit?

Our dilemma in this case comes down to this:
"Si jeunesse s'avait; si vieillesse pouvait."  [translated:  "If youth knew; if age could"]
(Henri Estienne)

I know if I had not begun on this path when I was a child, I would likely not understand the need to be on it now.  You see, religion was 'invented' to put children on the path of virtue, but what have 'they' done to that invention?  Today its reputation ranks somewhat below that of politics.

I agree with the 4th paragraph of this alot, it is a shame more people can't see that, but "the world" and its opinions of what we should and shoudn't be really does eat away at the thoughts and actions of most people. The world is mass thinking, it is allowing oneself to become our lower selves. We are like animals, only slightly more or less depending on where you stand, evolved. The ten commandments for instance, are really a guide to not screwing up your life, but some don't get that. But we are all on our own journeys. To enter the fight, it is only necessary to be the change we wish to see in the world, to quote Ganhdi. That is a thousand times better than taking on the world, because we are making small changes that amount to bigger ones that DO affect the world, be it from saving a kitten to writing a poem. We CHOOSE to remain slaves to selfish desires, we choose to let love elude us. It IS possible to be free and love and not be slaves. It happens everyday. It happens in so many hearts, in so many places, but it happens one of us at a time. It's when we give up on that hope, love and belief that we do become slaves to the world. Youth does know, and age can. It happens everyday. SOmetimes we see only the bad int he world, though the good is there to see as well, dwelling in our hearts. Religion is not faith. Faith and spirituality rise above any man made religion. It is within each one of us to rise to our better spiritual selves, though only some of us choose to do it. We can't be everyone, be in everyone's heart, we can only be the change and the love ourselves in the lives and worlds we touch. Many people nowadays choose to wield religion as a tool to get what they want, but not everyone does. I find the people who usually say that the most, are the ones who haven't set foot in a church in years. I know, I was a cradle Catholic who left and came back. I learned alot on my journey, and the biggest thing was that I was full of shit and uneducated about world faiths as well as my own. This was really thought-provoking and i have to come back tomorrow and read more of your stuff. Blessings, my friend, love, Michelle

Regis,
I loved following your logic and explanation of your current understanding. I think a lot of what you say is correct, but I still believe in my own "understanding".
I know, from what I've read of your writings, that you will accept my partial disagreement. Thank you for your thoughts, shared with a diverse and disparate readership.

Well, Regis I have broken through some of my programing, and yes, they do program us. And most continue to make the same mistakes, because they or I don't have time to sit down and think things through. We just do and do and do. The information revolution has assisted in everyone's life being sped up to points beyond endurance. If you used to make it on one job, you probably now need a second because of the programming of spend, spend, spend. And then we get to rescue our banking industry about every 6-7 years because they continue to give credit to those who just want it and it does help that person to spend and help keep the economy going, which allows a few to keep their jobs, so that they can pay their bills and buy new things as in spending. It just keeps going on and on, ad nauseum. I try to stay off this worldly cycle of life as much as possible but I'm just as guilty. But sometimes I do catch myself and reflect and get my life on the lawful path of God and feel good about myself, and my periods of staying there are becoming longer and longer. But this is a great thought provoking write that reminds me that I find myself only half-way on the right path and I need to rest, reflect and readjust. Thank-you for sharing. Liz

Oh, dear Reg...I think this is the first time I'm not totally in agreement with your Sha'Tara writings. I feel you are bulking all humans/Earthians into one World-basket; there are many who have been "awakened" to reality, attempting to make - and are making - a
difference in our sociatal and political environs. I think that basket-of-the- awakened is getting fuller; there are some great positive reactions to the negative ones.

But, as always, a good, thought-provoking article, friend!

Not a Catch 22 of life or a Machiavellian ethos, just plain and simple the Divine Comedy, with all the laughs and pathos, with a Hell dispensing fine wines and a Paradise full of saint lawyers.
The definition of "world" by the earthians, is not a ethereal, grammatical or phyche definition, it is just formulated as an excuse expressed with the wish to be included by the pathetic human carnival.

I think most people that merely exist do so because it's easier to let someone else have charge of their lives, whether it be God, The government, their spouse, their boss at work or whoever else, It's an easy way out for them and they have someone else to blame when things go wrong. I think the path to self empowerment begins with taking charge of one's own life and this is the hurdle most people don't think they can clear. I do believe that if Mankind is to survive we all need to take control of our lives and therefore our destinies as individuals and as a whole Humanity. If we think about it we know in our hearts what is right and we simply must do it. We also know what is wrong and we simply must not do these things.

Thought provoking write, Thank you Regis

This is an important article that describes a force that overwhelms all. However, what it fails to recognise is that this force is nothing more than a consolidation of our own ignorance acting hierarchically to maintain our states of denial(our points of view). Our Ignorance creates the world and when ignorance is no more then the world will not exist. Should we decide to become 'nothing' and 'get well' then we must first accept responsibility for the watchdog we have empowered to protect our ignorance. This is the catch 22 of life; our greatest debacle.

Religion ranks somewhere below politicians only in the minds of politicians and those uninspired to reason. They accept nothing counter to their hedonistic desires and any ideologies required to support that position. I view these groups as fervent supporters of Draconian morbidity. With a Machiavellian ethos. I am certainly glad that you did not intend this article to be, rhetorical in nature! It serves my aging gray matter well to ponder a little now and then. Thanks Reg.
