The Subject of Sin

A long time ago, in a land not so far away there lived gods. Or so the people called them. They were not gods, as such, just travelers from another world who had chanced upon earth and found it a very resource-full place. A place where people from a crowded and controlled world ruled by one dictator could maybe hope to establish themselves, create new dynasties, indulge in "developing" open spaces of land, sea and air. All well and good, but they needed workers and special animals to make life possible. (I'm flying over approximately 300 thousand years of details here.) They made, cloned, created, call it what you will, for themselves slave creatures they called man (the adams and the eves) and along with that, imported from other worlds and re-designed many animals to serve their needs. Look all you want for man's natural ancient forebears, or domestic animals and pets' antecedents—all you will find are half-baked, contradictory theories and downright fabrications from your historians, whose primary job is to distort the truth, if they even knew what that was at this late date.
The rest, as they say, is history, but not the kind you'll learn either in regular school or Sunday school. These institutions once sat on top of this knowledge, but were instructed never to divulge it or dire consequences will result, for both the leaders of said institutions or the institutions themselves. Man's gods established their domains or "regions" on earth, in Mesopotamia, the Nile valley, Southern Africa (labs and mines where 'man' was first successfully cloned to work underground), the Indus Valley, and later in Northern Europe and Central and South America. Some even had 'resorts' on islands in both Atlantic and Pacific oceans, some of those islands having sunk now due to tectonic activities, or war—for those gods, though originally of one family, indulged in nuclear warfare and massive genocide in attempts to conquer each-other's territories, or gain personal power over the whole earth. These wars are documented in Sumerian records and in those 'sacred' books with unpronounceable names from India. Inference to these events can also be gleaned from glossed-over accounts in the Bible.
These gods had names, of course. The earliest ones were Big Daddy Anu, the Anunnaki dictator-king from Nibiru. He visited but never lived on earth. He'd come over once in a while to party and have sex with his favorite great-grand-daughter Inanna. In the Greek pantheon his name is Zeus, well known for his sexual appetites and escapades with young goddesses and earth women.
There was his son, Enlil, the older half-son Enki, Nin-Harsag, and ect., etc.. These had sons and daughters, of course. Marduk, Shamash, Seth, and Nanna or Sin, among others. Like father, like son, and they indulged in ferocious wars against one-another, mostly in attempts to gain supremacy as daddy Anu had done on Nibiru. But earth was not like Nibiru the controlled, machine planet of the gods. Use too many weapons of mass destruction here and even if you win it all, you end up with nothing. Put enough stress on it and nature is quick to retaliate. Nukes poison the land, the waters, the air, and since earth years are so short, much swift death can occur during this poisoned period and unexpected changes make life unbearable. The gods destroyed their own cities, and whether they killed themselves here, among the millions they caused to die helplessly, or escaped to return to Nibiru or wherever; whether they continue on among us as a mixture of Anu-Earth descendants known as the Illuminati, or whomever, does it matter?
This isn't about the Anunnaki or their foray upon this planet. It's a search on meaning. There is a word once quite useful in the old religions—English equivalent: sin. Ever wonder where that originated? Well, quite simply, one of the warring gods was named Sin, son of Enlil. Also known as Zu, or Zu-En (from which we derive Zen?). There was a biblical land in the Sinai called the Land of Sin. It was/is a barren, mountainous land. It was the land of the Til-Mun or rocket ships where the gods landed and departed for their space stations and ultimately their home planet Nibiru.
The name "Sin" became a curse because of the violence and destruction unleashed upon the area when he stole the Crown of king Enlil, his father, to make himself ruler of the world. His followers were called, not surprisingly, Sinners. A 'sinner' was a collaborator in the great evil of Sin; such evil doers worthy of destruction in the same fires Sin had unleashed upon the planet: the fires of Hell (Note again how close that name is to Helios, the sun god.)
So sin is now wrong-doing. But what kind of wrong doing specifically? Usurping the king's rule and the king is God. So sinning is an act of power directed against God! The priesthood, to stir up the guilt pot and make money on God bribes subsequently called all types of immoral behavior sin. Acting against God's will. This brings us to today's social dilemma. Most people, including religious people, do not actually believe in God anymore. They just go on as if, pretend, talk a good game, but in actual fact, by their 'works' they do not 'fear' God as was the intent of having a relationship with God from the beginning.
It is made abundantly clear in the Old Testament that God was not a loving Santa-type Father figure. He was a dictator. His word was the Law. Anyone who did not obey the Word of God suffered dire consequences, sooner or later. God's presence meant judgment and punishment for transgression. PUnishment was the worst kind of death. Reward was, you stayed alive. Not surprisingly since the very first believers were slaves of the gods and to disobey a command meant death.
Comes these times when this Ancient God no longer holds sway over people. Religions and New Age groups have made him into an impotent doddering old blind fool who doesn't know what he wants anymore. Or some kind of immanent mindless Spirit force as in Star Wars, that an adept (get your wallet out now) can learn to manipulate at will. Or it's the Universe. Bottom line, it's the Self and however much money you can move around to get whatever it is your heart desires.
The point? Where there is no fear of God, there can be no sin, only civil or secular law and that's made to be broken. Without the dam that fear of God provided against rampant evil, this society especially in the West, has fallen into chaotic immorality and mental turpitude. Its values have become those dictated by the Marketplace, so that's now the God. A God that makes hedonism, apathy, irresponsibility, debauchery, lust, and particularly greed and gluttony into paramount virtues. The Global Marketplace God profits from vice, not from virtue. How many realize this is the downfall of society as a whole?
Sometimes I stop and wonder what the world would be like if "good" was considered the normal way to live. In this area at the moment some fools (not a few) are spending money stolen from taxpayers and consumers preparing the billionaires' party known as the Winter Olympics. I call it the Olymfix but that's my sense of humor. In a good world, a properly functioning world, as soon as the disaster in Haiti hit the news, everybody involved in the Olymfix would have known there was now a greater need for the money and resources being squandered for nothing. The commercial Olymfix idiocy would be cancelled, the money and efforts applied where they are needed. After all, really, what has an Olympian gold medal winner ever done of lasting value for this world? Endorsing colas, chocolate bars and runners, is what this world needs more of?

In the US, 20 percent of our budget goes to war Sin is suspended in war. On our scale of values, we should just let Haiti fend for itself.

This is a very interesting write. There are many points you made that are so very true. I think, we need to evaluate what is important. Too much time spent on things that are trivial.
