Why Duality?

To understand ourselves we need to have some idea where we come from, what sort of world we live in, and what may happen in the future.  We are made of the past and are participating in the creation of the future.  We should be doing all of this consciously and intelligently but knowledge of the past and the future, it seems, is blocked from our consciousness.  There are, of course, very serious and powerful forces that refuse us access to this knowledge.  So we must find it despite their ubiquitous interference.  That means learning how to phrase our questions to those we hope are able to answer truthfully.  We should know by now that so-called "history" is mostly fiction with just enough facts to make it barely palatable, and that, not without liberal doses of advertising by the education system and the info media. 
 
We cannot trust history: not ours, not anyone else's.  So then what?  Enter the Teachers.
 
Briefly, who are these entities, these Teachers?  They've been called by many names.  Some have manifested openly and not too successfully as it is easy for the Matrix (System) to take their teachings and twist them around to suit the on-going brainwashing of people on this world.  The safest method, the most effective, but the slowest, is for Teacher and student to meet mind to mind.  Through dreams, visions and thought-forms, ideas are shared and explored.  Then it's up to the student to share these ideas with other Earthians… or not.  The good thing about this approach is it does not generate one-upmanship and competitiveness as we see happening among the disciples of Jesus, for example, or the followers of Gandhi.  There is no  temptation to ask the "thought-Teacher" to become a religious leader, or form a new government either.  Two serious flaws in the "manifested Teacher" approach are thus eliminated. 
 
Now to share another gem from the Teachers.  I learned long ago that if you keep asking the question "Why?" with seriousness and intent, bit by bit, point by point, you get answers.  The following was a particularly interesting and intense exchange.
 
The double question:  "Where does life come from?"  and "Why is life full of irresolvable conflict?"
 
To the first question, perhaps it always was (is) because it is energy.  We don't need to know this in order to begin our search.  We must assume either an unexplainable beginning from nothing, or an infinite eternity.  To me either is acceptable. 
 
To the second question: focus on that word: conflict.
 
Possible and useful scenario:  Before "this" came about, life had a different form, worked itself out in a different format.  It was based on the concept that all is one.  There could be as many different "things" as anyone would desire (if desire had been possible) but none could ever see themselves as separate, or other than, a part of the one.  All was always one.  Something "came into being" like a mountain or a snail and that was its form, its shape.  But in itself, if was still just one with everything else.  It just wore a different mantle, so to speak. 
 
To us, confused, frightened and angered by an apparently infinite chaotic compulsive cacophony of conflict, that may seem fine, a great way to be.  No struggle at all.  Just be and there you are.  Always one with one.  No adding or subtracting.  No bisecting.  No replicating.  If two mountains seem better than one, another appears, made automatically from free and boundless energy.  If people are thought up, they just appear wherever, and there they are.  They don't need a purpose and there is really no point to their beingness.  They are not happy nor sad.  They are not this or that.  They just are.  Just there, all one in one.  Perhaps not even aware of their differences, unable to quantify or qualify. 
 
We must assume just for the sake of it, that this would have gone on for a long period until there were many universes full of stuff, but the stuff was akin to paintings and carvings in an art gallery and robots in some laboratory.  Images and mobile machines with no real life.  They existed.  They had no choice.  They could not produce anything of themselves because their motile energy did not come from within but always from an external source. 
 
Until one day "someone" objected to this meaningless expansion in space.  Until it was recognized that without constant input of new energy, the created patterns kept reaching states of entropy and "stopped."  (Died.)  The question was finally asked: can something without purpose live?  Can something without purpose be said to be alive?
 
The argument:  "If there is motion, there must be reason for that motion.  Life must have a reason to project these things, these universes and their galaxies, their stars, planets, etc.  Within these worlds, all that exists must be given reason." 
 
And so surfaced the idea of awakening the existing things and events within a dualistic principle.  By awakening the sense of selfhood, reason would develop from the pressure created by the clash of opposite forces.  In time, the more advanced beings discovered the power of choice.  Power, as it was understood, began to be allocated, measured because it no longer flowed freely from some unknown outside source.  Bundles of energy and stuff were closed off from each other and were forced to "make do" with what they were allocated.  We call these bundles "universes" for that reason.
 
Within these universes all the crazy stuff we take for granted in our type of life was developed and experimented with.  Some created and some destroyed.  Some sought to create balance and some sought to control, imposing their ways upon others.  Conflict.  Necessity became the mother of invention throughout the cosmos.  Entire universes were birthed, others died.  (When I use the term "universe" I do not necessarily mean entities measured in parsecs.  There are countless universes nested within the "greater ones" as we measure size.  A universe could be the size of a small galaxy, perhaps much, much smaller.  That is the beauty and frustration of understanding "life" keeping in mind that "all of it" is infinite in scope, from the micro to the macro.) 
 
So here we are, evolved sentient beings (but in relation to what, or to whom, we still do not know) with all of this commotion going on all around and within our minds and bodies and we must make sense of it all, give it some guidance and direction, or suffer the consequences when we let others do the guiding and controlling.  The conflict is real.  We cannot go back to the stagnation of the previous experiment because we have chosen to exist in closed environments and there is no new free energy available to support a "One" kind of existence, nor would we live long in one: we would die of boredom.
 
At this point, briefly and most importantly, what must be realized is that "conflict" did not have to deteriorate into the destructive pattern of aggressiveness caused by institutionalized violence.  The problems facing us are not primarily those of individually motivated selfish violence.  That can be corrected.  What cannot be corrected is collective violence.  That is why the System, from God on down, always and forever blames individuals for the problems of society.  That is why individuals, not collectives, go to jail for murder—as an example.  State sanctioned murder—war—does not make murderers but heroes!  Who sees the dichotomy of this?  Very few and of those, only the self-empowered can understand why that is so.  
 
It's now up to us, as individuals, to decide how we are going to live within this dualistic environment of choice.  If we take responsibility for our place in the process, none of our choices will be easy.  We have free will, but free choice is a misnomer.  Every choice entails some price because we are recycling energy here, not using new material.  How we recycle; how we approach the Conflict Universe and reshape our worlds is what matters now. 
 
We have literally "become as gods" and taken the responsibility for it.  We cannot escape.  We can build or we can destroy. 
 
And of course, we will reap what we sow, invariably and always.
