Back Again to "Who are We?"

The following comments are based on two articles.  One is mine, a letter I sent myself from one thousand years in the future – which I have posted on a couple of occasions for discussion.  Two, an article by John Rockie Coppolella called "UFO Technology and the Future of Mankind."  (The article is at the bottom of this email and other writings by this author can be found by clicking on the link  * * Starman * * )

If we had to explain who we are to some Alien we ran into somewhere in our travels, could we do it?  Do we possess the reference points necessary to describe to someone who has never been here, or heard of Earth, who the people of Earth are?  Don't we need a way to compare ourselves to some other intelligent-sentient races to even know this?

Who are we?  OK, sure, we can describe what we are, based on other planetary life, and we can surmise by expanding that to include our (real? imagined?) relationship to God, or our manifold gods.  But what would that say to an alien?  If we told them what we would like to be like, they may think we're OK.  But what if we told them the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the naked truth?  Do we even know what that is?  How much do we know about life on Earth?  Can we state, factually, to what degree we are complicit in the gross crimes committed daily by the power-mongers and leading predators of this species?  Or to what degree we are enslaved by false belief systems; programmed to dance 'til we drop when a certain type of music is played?  How many of us would be able to look that alien in the eye and say, "we are a race of lost people, living pointless lives within systems that continually seek to (and are thoroughly successful at) disempowering us.  We are a species that serves no purpose unless consuming and destroying can be accounted as a purpose."

So who are we?  Are we just mindless predators who proliferate like cockroaches as long as there remains something that can temporarily assuage our insane, insatiable appetites?  Was "God" correct when he said, I regret that I made man, for every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood and I will wipe him off the face of the Earth?  Man survived but obviously nothing changed in his proclivity to do evil continually.  Is there another termination for the man experiment in the near future?  If not God, did "life" make a mistake in allowing man to evolve this far? 

Enough rhetorical questions already.  We know this stuff.  What we still don't know is "why" this is so.  "The Devil made me do it" somehow doesn't have quite the convincing power it used to have—blame Bill Cosby!  But if not the Devil, then what?  Maybe we can explain it using a Ray Bradbury approach.  Let a Word come forth to lead our thinking, to take us on the path, and let us append entourages, assistants, support groupings of perhaps less potent but necessary words to accompany this Word.

What would be the Word that could take us on a grand and mysterious journey from which we could return forever changed?  Future!  That's our Word.  OK, let's start walking: We are the Future?  In a sense, yes, but to clarify, we are from the Future.  Now understand this: that someone capable of traveling through time, especially from the Future, isn't going to commit himself totally to one single location, one single time/space.  No, you're too smart for that.  You only commit a part of your mind to a place, say Earth, in order to experience "that" aspect of life.  So, should disaster happen, you could lose a part of your mind but you would continue on, and you would eventually close up the gap created by what was lost on Earth. See?  Simple logic at work here, nothing fancy at all.

What does our Word say now?  Well, we are now talking of partials, see?  Pieces of individual minds incarnating on a soft, plush, gushy, watery, fruity, warm, windy, sweaty, rotty world.  Easy stuff.  You don't send the best part of your mind to a world like that, you send some backwater part, some part that has been forgotten, not too evolved, certainly not too bright, to hopefully give it a sense of being on its own and learning about life and what it means to be a working part of it, in partnership with it.  That would be our Word's definition of an Earthian: a mind that has seen and heard a lot of great stuff but could never be bothered to get into it, content to just go along for the ride.  So, out of habit, this piece of mind continues the same pattern in its Earth habitat.  There you have it.

Will this primitive, timid, fearful, redneck, imbecilic, backward piece of mind learn to become responsible for itself; to personally feel the impact it has on other life forms which until now it considers to be prey for whatever its senses desire?  I think that is up to each and every individual piece of some greater mind.  But I can say for certain that it will never happen as long as we continue to let others make all the important and crucial decisions on how this world should be [run?] –oh, no! — shared.

UFO Technology and the Future of Mankind

Is it real? Read my article, do the research and you decide. Theory of UFO technology and it's origins. Think about it.
I was interviewed for an article on UFOs for an issue of "Maryland Life" magazine. It was an awesome experience for me and a lot of fun. I  believe that my UFO encounter mentioned in my article The Philadelphia Experiment , UFOs, Tesla and Other Strange Things ,  has something to do with my research in the future. This maybe circular logic and a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I believe I had something to do with the UFO that appeared  to me that night. The links between my life's work and that event, go back at least 100 years to the time of genius Nikola Tesla. Margaret Cheney's book, "Man Out of Time" is a good read on the subject. Also, Timothy Good has a series of books on the world-wide UFO phenomena. It is a very interesting story of how I came across those books. At the end of Good's, "Above Top Secret", he practically eliminates all the explanations for UFOs, except for them originating in the future. This supported my long held beliefs in the subject, for which I lived in denial many years. The evidence is looking like an interwoven tapestry of the events in my life. I have believed in more things than this, for far less compelling reasons. Haven't you?
Why would technologically advanced civilizations take an interest in mankind and this present world? Surely they could do better, or just out-right take it if they desired. Perhaps there is a hidden link between them and us, or  at least with some of the more benevolent beings reportedly contacted. They seem to have agendas that no one knows and that have not been revealed to the common man. The real truth is hidden from the people because they cannot yet handle it, and chaos would ensue were they suddenly enlightened. Is that why UFOs are silently coming in and out of this world, revealing themselves gradually, but consistently to more and more people? Could they be us, somewhere down the line, but they don't want to upset entirely the current course of events? That would explain similarities between them and us, even if some have been genetically engineered for special purposes. If true , it suggests that UFO technology can be considered where might mankind advance to a few centuries or less from now, if only we can cooperate as a species and not destroy each other or the planet first. If the future is involved, then perhaps the UFO creators' existence depends upon the preservation and nurturing of certain time lines and events leading up to the time(s) and space(s) from which the UFOs originate.
Then again, according to Einstein's work, a time-traveler traveling at close to the speed of light that takes a trip from Earth and back lasting ten years, would arrive back at Earth where 1000 years of history had transpired. This means that some of the UFOs we see in our skies could have left the planet Earth over a thousand years ago or more, finding the world they left now gone. It could give a new perspective to the UFO dilemma.  Is one reason why they are silently cruising our skies, mystified after finding the world they left totally unrecognizable, as would we if we had left on trio only to find every we ever knew gone upon our return? I hope to live long enough to see the day when mankind's pasts and his futures combine into a new golden age for humanity. It will certainly be well worth the wait!
