Assumptions and Theories

So you spend your life observing. You study, you research, you test. When you work, dream or whatever “else,” you think about it all and you draw conclusions. Or you come up with theories on how this or that came about; when, where and why. Who did what to whom or for whom and what were the results. You know, the kind of stuff people do all the time, exercising that mind, stretching the credibility limits so new things can be played with. Ok, let’s not exaggerate: the kind of stuff a very few people do, but be that as it may.
The best stuff to build with are assumptions. Assumptions are like Lego or Tinker toy. The more pieces you collect, the more complex can be your constructs. It takes imagination, patience and certainly detachment because when you see your construct going off on a tangent that destroy its meaning you have to be ready to pull out a bunch of pieces, maybe all of them, and start again. Now the System doesn’t care for that at all. It wants you to get on a pre-determined path and stay on it. It will give you many reasons for staying. An old one was, get on the religious path and then don’t doubt or you go to hell. Today the incentive to remain in the groove is usually money for stuff that gives pleasure and provides fun. The result is the same: the System keeps its slaves. Under System control, the rule is, don’t try to build your own toys – buy the ones offered in the toy department. Every aspect of the System has a toy department for that very reason.
Well let’s say you are not a System mind slave. Let’s say that you can think for yourself and you can understand, to some degree, that things are not what they seem. You question it all and you come up with the certainty that things are not what “they” claim. Now you want to know what it would be like if the System veil was pulled and you could really see the wizard behind the curtain. But you know that won’t happen so you look for another way to satisfy your curiosity and that’s when your assumptions come into the picture.
Now assumptions aren’t much good for anything; they’re akin to gossiping, jumping to conclusions. It’s not good enough to just assume, you have to put some substance behind what you happen to think “happened, is happening, or will happen.” You have to train yourself to develop theories and theories, to be valid (more than assumptions) must possess some substance of fact. I’m not saying I have to convince the world that I know something no one else does, I’m talking about making sense of things for myself. To be able to actually know something – for a fact – what a gift that would be! But I can’t know anything for sure, not here, not now. But I can infer things. I can pull bits and pieces of relevant information (a very important distinction) and put them together in my mind puzzle until a picture begins to emerge. It may not be what I expected (it usually isn’t) but that in itself is exciting. It’s much like discovering something new, and that’s something in a world where the philosopher had to conclude “There is nothing new under the sun.”
There is a theory going around that we may not be real at all but computer simulations going through the motions according to some master programming. It’s one I’ve played with myself so it doesn’t shock me. Possible? Of course, all things are possible, nothing is impossible (play on words there, watch out!). The only way we could define what is “real” is if we had something other than, to compare our concept of reality against. Well, we don’t. Everything we can be aware of is either real, or it isn’t. Some can’t be real while others aren’t. Therefore the theory of computer simulation versus being “real” is ultimately meaningless until we find that giant cosmic mirror. Wait a minute, could that be God?
Did you ever wonder, I mean really wonder, why people who believe in One, Infinite, Eternal, Omnipotent, Omniscient God can’t agree on what that is? Why there is such a multiplicity of religions all clamoring to have a straight pipeline to this One God? Ever wonder why these same people can’t get along with each other; why they keep breaking away and starting new factions; why in certain times and under certain conditions they revert to violent persecution and slaughter of each other? Could it be as simple as this, that the so-called “human condition” prevents people from ever being one, no matter what course they choose to take? That we are cursed, condemned or conversely, blessed, with our “human condition” which prevents us from becoming truly one with any other?
The “human condition” addresses our peculiar type of life, whether given to us, stolen, or evolved into, which makes us sentient, self-aware, self-conscious. Which makes us uniquely and individually different, putting us at odds, not only with all other types of life we encounter, but with each other as well. It makes us aggressive and defensive even without a valid reason to be so. In this, it seems, we can’t help ourselves. We do what we are, we are not what we do. And it would seem that our “condition” came hard wired with vices rather than virtues. Vice comes naturally whereas virtues require much effort and the total eschewing of evil or vice in order to benefit from our efforts at being virtuous.
My conclusion; my theory, is this: that a person, a “human condition” being is complete in itself and does not require anyone else to complete it. All that seeking for companionship, for lovers, for a sense of belonging, is left-over from a previous condition. The Earthian is incompletely human because he chooses not to burn his bridges, not to close off his previously dependent life to embrace a totally new life: one where the individual is free to choose. He continues to cling to the now obsolete notion that he can be a part of some One group while at the same time knowing that if he did open himself up to such a concept he would be swallowed whole, never to see the light of day again. So this Earthian, this Man, exists in some penumbra of fear made easier for many by the wishful thinking of religious salvation and for a growing number, the simple expedient of living in denial.
Now, when I say “free to choose” that does not mean we enter into a state of anarchy where any individual can do whatever, as we see so much of in today’s society. A truly free individual can reason properly. He empowers himself to choose good over evil, and always – always – does so. That is what the programmers, whomever, whatever they be, are so intent on making people doubt or reject. But it remains true that the evil that man does is not of man’s inventing. It came with the programming, from the programmers. A free individual chooses responsibility over anarchy simply because continuing freedom depends on a virtuous life, a personally entered into, personally empowered, individual life. Evil leads ever to entropy, to the downfall of all who trust in it and exercise it. Evil is always dependent on external conditions (think about that!) whereas virtues are engendered and arise from within the individual – and never within any group.

Somewhere in the so called good book, I'm sure it says, "I created evil", what for, to punish our guilty minds, depending on your belief system, what fun they must have these so called Gods, it's a challenge isn't it, no evil, no challange, no challenge, no fun, no fun, what for.......
the wishful fear, of religious salvation as you said, is the biggest hypocracy of the human mind,
some, many, will tell you, this earthly existence is only temporay, and I guess it might be, but to search for paradise, while you're in it, somewhere in the outer realm of thought, we make the excuse, we can abuse this one, till it is proper hell on earth, I'd like to help them depart quickly to the next one.
