Earth: The Clever Trap

[thoughts from ~burning woman~ by Sha’Tara]

Earth – what is that tiny planet spiralling its way through a galaxy? What is its significance? What is its purpose?

While that last question should be obvious to all by now, it appears to remain unanswered, a mystery. Or is the lack of answer just another clever lie on the part of those who determine and guide the destiny of worlds?

Earth: a clever trap. Who for? For all those endlessly swept within its mind-attractors; for all ISSA’s*1 who come here, attracted as moths to a lamp and as helpless. And when their wings are singed and burned, they fall to the ground from which they never again rise.

For billions of years, Earth was prepared, decked out and disguised more cleverly than any tiger pit ever was. The surface of the world was made beautiful, and the madness that roiled deep beneath the mantel was just as carefully hid from the first ever Earthians who set foot here; who believed it to be their world, their only world. Truth, truth that mattered, these Earthians would never know; never be allowed to know. Their ancient memories were “disconnected” and they were nurtured into believing that their intelligence resided in their brains. They were “ensouled” and every one programmed with an assortment of belief systems that would prevent residual memories, mind-memories, from creating problems.

In the believed history, there have been some who thought they remembered something other than what they were fed in gestation and subsequently, by the machines of the Matrix. But they couldn’t communicate this to the rest. The more successful ones, if they appeared dangerous, were eliminated in whatever way deemed appropriate or expedient. Once their ideas safely neutralised and ensconced within the teachings of Matrix systems, they were then instated as heroes, martyrs or saints. Clever.

While the certain “why” of it still eludes my endless queries, it seems quite apparent that Earth was fashioned as holding place, “home” if you will – stretching the meaning of the word to the extreme – to a particular species of pseudo-humanity that was to be designed especially for this place. Once that is accepted, one can work on the “why” part.

Why would the gods, the makers, the designers, the lords, the powers, the authorities, the forces, the spirit-entities or God if you will, do such a thing? It’s interesting to speculate on the subject and since there is not one iota of truthful information extant on this world to contradict any speculation, let’s do that, always looking at any speculation through the lesson of Occam’s Razor, which simply stated says that among competing hypotheses, the one that makes the fewest assumptions should be selected.

Well, we’re not short on “competing hypotheses” as to what or who, we are, or why we are here. Every contradictory and contradicting belief screams man’s desire to know and his impotency, his spiritual blindness, his historical confusion, his mental ignorance concerning the matter. Despite the fact than none, that’s none(!) of his greatest teachings and philosophies have shed any reliable light on the subject, it is still the one that drives the race, the species, as it crawls about, furrowing, burrowing and hopping, all over his puny world with its dwindling space and resources. Now, armed with a new level of pretend technology, he hopes to find answers “out there” in that frightful, dreadful, inimical space.

He’s not going out there, not unless he first re-clones himself with a different body type, but let no one deter him from his game. Space, man’s “final frontier,” though it remains on par with, as elusive as, heaven, hell, purgatory, limbo, Hades or whatever other places he’s ever been told, or he believes exists for him, he will conquer.

And that’s another interesting aspect of this, that man, being ignorant of “others” out there, whether angels, demons, gods, aliens or what have you, simply believes that he can focus on “getting out” and that whatever is out there, is there for him to move in on and take, in the name of God and Country, or King, or Church. He learned that on Earth, of course. This particular zoo was created for him to play and exercise in, to proliferate in, to subdue and get fat in, and here he’s made himself master and commander. He makes the rules and these are the rules of the strongest, the craftiest and certainly the greediest. How could he begin to reason that going into space, he should be denied his “god-given” supremacy? It’s not in the programming.

So, can we speculate on why man is here? Why he’s gotten away with so much error and “wrongness” in his ways? How long has man been a murderous bastard child of the gods and a sycophantic brainless follower? Long enough. Long enough to know better by now? Without the programming, certainly. But man is not master of his fate, he is a programmed creature, controlled and totally predictable. As things stand, he cannot change, or be allowed to, because that would ruin the purpose of the zoo.

There have been many religious and philosophical tomes written about man’s purpose. Philosophy and religion basically teach that man is here to evolve spiritually and mentally. These differ, in that philosophy would say man can do this on his own, whereas religion states unequivocally that such is impossible without some sort of divine intercession. That man absolutely refuses, or cannot, evolve himself or become better either through philosophy or religion should prove that that isn’t it. Another dead end. What else?

Thank God for Science! Yes, science is now ready and able to demonstrate its coming of age, its wisdom and knowledge, by offering technology as the means whereby man becomes god, or at the very least, greater than himself. We can, or will, make computerized robots that will far surpass anybody’s IQ. We can create the bogeyman: Artificial Intelligence. The dreaded AI. But again, as we can sadly see, that is not man becoming superior, that is man being reduced to the status of slave to something greater than himself. Foiled again.

One interesting topic that has come up again and again in science fiction has “man” being nurtured as “food” for the gods, or the aliens. Reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode in which benevolent aliens land on Earth and show the benighted people a book. They translate the title of the book as “To Serve Mankind” and proceed to take people away to their home world where they can serve them better. I never saw the episode and don’t know the actual details, but one Earthian apparently learns the alien language and reads the book. And here’s the famous phrase he yells out: “It’s a cook book! It’s a cook book!”

Interesting insight because when you look deeply into everyone of man’s great books, great laws, great statements, you can hear that phrase in your head: “It’s a cook book!” I could be truly crass here and remind some people that “Mein Kampf” – Hitler’s infamous piece of unreadable trash – was used by Nazi fanatics to put millions of helpless, innocent people into the “ovens” of the death camps. Other “great” cook books have been used to foment wars in which millions were executed without mercy; without due process of law; burned to death (anyone remember Nagasaki and Hiroshima?) and the story goes to this day and is certainly not about to end any time soon, quite the contrary.

These events, multiplied throughout man’s short history, do not serve mankind – not in any spiritual or moral way – but perhaps they “serve mankind” to unseen “powers and authorities” who reside outside man’s fostered limited ken. Are they out there, these deviant gastronomists, just out of range of our senses, and of course undetected by our technology because that technology is “theirs” and not ours as we like to think? The question is, what do these perverted “powers” get from such an exchange? Do they feed off man’s pain and death? Perhaps it’s the despair, the confusion, the fear, the anger and hate they get off on. Do they need more and more of it, a condition which would explain the way this world is going?

If we looked at how we feed off the animals on this planet; the way we interact with most of them, the incredible cruelty manifested towards them, whether in the wilds or domestically, perhaps that would give us a better idea of how we too are being “served” to the gods, eh? Who taught man to be so utterly heartless towards animals, nature and the weaker ones in general? Why can’t man develop true empathy, a condition that no longer allows one to feel pleasure or satisfaction from inflicting pain to another?

Why doesn’t man change, no matter what is done? Why does the creature always, predictably, fall back upon its baser nature? And why is it that those who intellectually grasp the concept of compassion, who realize the wrongness of things, remain just as helpless to change as the others? Why is it that when it comes to morality man is predictably, always, recidivistic?

Can it be he’s caught in a clever trap that includes the basic programming preventing him from detecting the way out?

The innate drive to survive is what causes us to revert to our flight or fight base mentality of flight or fight. And it a the most powerful of all of our genetic programming. A cool piece of work Regis. You have stirred the pot a bit and created us to think, reason, question. I wish you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

it's simple. When challenged, we get a shot of adrenaline and our reptilian brain takes over and changes all the altruistic thoughts we had, and we prepare to survive, regardless of how we do it. I certainly don't think we are kept on a zoo of a planet to be observed or stupidly eaten.

You're saying we are lab rats, or chickens in a cage, that keep on laying the same eggs for the God's to consume, I always wondered where the Fijians get the ideas in their cook book, just kiddin, we are as mean as God made us, that's if you believe in God or Gods, and as good, we didn't invent ourselves, and the insanity that goes with it, Goethe said the insane asylum of the universe, this place, I say a porno store for their pleasures etc, etc, or maybe we all are afflicted with some sort of illness that Lily mentioned. I wasn't going to spend much time, but your thoughts always entice me to read, and make comment, congrats Regies, and bless ya.

No one is ever caught in a clever trap... We are in control
of our own power and no one can take it away unless we allow them too...

Nice article under the author's thought...
