Where was Christ Crucified?

“Where is it that Christ was crucified?” asked the young crusader knight just arrived in Jerusalem. An old man points to the brow of a high hill where a church with a cross on top now stands. The knight goes to the top of the hill and returns. He seeks out an older knight and says, “God does not speak to me, not even up there, where Christ was crucified. I’m outside God’s grace. It seems I have lost my religion.”
“I put no stock in religion” replies the older knight. “I’ve seen the lunacy of fanatics called the Word of God. Holiness is in right action and in courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves; and in goodness. By what you decide to do each day, that is what will make you a good man… or not. For a king may move a man, but a man’s soul is his own.” (Paraphrased from “Kingdom of Heaven” – the movie)
To say that Christ was crucified on a hill in or near Jerusalem is to lie. Oh, sure, perhaps the historical Jesus was crucified on such a particular place, at such a particular time. But what would it matter if the “historical” Christ had been crucified on the tallest mountain in the Himalayas or the Andes, or for that matter in Hawaii?
But one man shedding but one body? And how can any believe that such a paltry sacrifice could bring salvation to an entire world spanning the time of creation unto this day? One body; one man’s fleeting pain enough to make up for the billions enslaved, imprisoned, tortured, raped, murdered and starved to death? You still think, yes? Still say “yes” in your mind?
That is your prerogative, but I think not. I think rather, this is your religion doing the thinking and the talking through your lips. This is not holiness, hence not truth but pure dogma.
I will tell you exactly where Christ was crucified: he was crucified where each and every innocent victim of oppression was murdered and continues to be murdered to this day. There has never been a “Good Friday” and never been an Easter morning on this world: the crosses are still being erected, the darkness still gathers and the murderers continue to gamble with what they steal from their helpless victims. Nothing has changed, that’s the telling point.
And I will tell you more: that Christ was betrayed and crucified billions upon billions of times by those who held the power to make this world a just and peaceful place; that he continues to be treated thus by his self-named friends and equally by those who do not acknowledge him and believe themselves immune from judgment or so far gone in their insanity that the question does not even constitute a faint whisper in their mind.
For it was given unto all those who claim authority and power to exercise justice upon this world. That was always their only mandate. And they have consistently refused to do the things which the status of leadership demands of them; that which has always been in their power to do.
“If that is so, then what now?”
Let me tell you this: that what has been sown has become a crop – a crop that ripens as we speak and in all the places of betrayal and crucifixion a fire has been kindled, a hellish fire whose flames are fed by the agonized breath of the tortured, the dying and the dead. This fire is going to destroy man’s crop, whether it be in space, in the bowels of the earth or on the surface. It will leave nought but ashes scooped up by the death wind to be scattered as salt over the face of the earth. By the empty wastes silent but for the howling of the winds shall those who come to see this place be reminded of earth’s judgment times.
“What happens afterwards, when life returns here?”
That I am not being shown. Perhaps life will never return and earth will remain but a planetary sepulchre for its ghosts to find refuge in. Perhaps it will be but another dead ball of rock and solidified iron plummeting through space without purpose except to advertise its curse as a warning should anyone care about its history.

Your statement that Jesus Christ's crucifixion was only a drop in the bucket of the millions and millions of people tortured and crucified in the name of this religion or that. Christians are no less to blame like that knight on the hill, for they have colonized, genocided, and enslaved millions in the name of their perverted “God” in the centuries since they latched onto Christ as their Savior and everyone else should be either converted or condemned as being a heathen or unfit to survive the final judgment.
Finally, Tom has described human behavior quite well. Let me repeat again that we do not have an “evil seed” or the “devil” in us. We are a product of our environment and predatory by nature. If we carefully use our last developed brain, our frontal lobes where lies logic and reasoning, we can overcome the origins of our success described quite eloquently in two books, The Selfish Gene and The Territorial Imperative.
We have succeeded in conquering all the territory of the earth and all of its human and other inhabitants. Now it is time to use our critical reasoning and come up with humane ways to solve our problems without relying on archaic “beliefs” which impede our pathway to the stars.

Focus on the miracle of faith. The Catholics call it the Mystery of Faith. Having a childlike faith is so wonderful. Yet many so called scholars get caught up in what mTters the least. I been to Israel and I did not experience Christ presence in the Church of the Holy Sceptere or any of the tourist spots. However I came to an outside area by the sea where I was told Jesus talked. It was simply a pile of smooth rocks where people could sit and pray. It was there that I knew Jesus was present. I could feel the Holy Spirit in my heart. I cNnot explain it , there is no logic that can convince me otherwise. It is a mystery of faith. It is also a joy beyond human capacity. Whith Christ all things are possible but only if you believe.
May Christ come onto your heart so you can experience New Life Nd feel like a child again love, peace and blessings deep within your heart. Amen
