Survival and Salvation: Observations

I am thinking, ‘If I were an observer and investigator sent to study the people of earth, say over several millennia, and allowed to interview them at random, from the most self-important of their kind to the socially lowest of Earthian life, what would I have recorded? What would I have heard?’
I have enough insight to have some pretty accurate idea what my observations would contain; what my reports would say about the people of Earth. I am well equipped mentally to make accurate judgments on the life-performance of Earth's people though thankful that condemnation is not one of my responsibilities. I believe that condemnation is self-induced and fool-proof. When a race condemns itself by its collective acts even its most powerful deities cannot correct that.
In the bloody chaos surrounding Earthian thoughts and deeds, what are the common denominators? What truly matters to Earthians, regardless of where they find themselves, what language they speak, what their economic or social status happens to be? What do they struggle for?
This is what my record says: survival and salvation. These are the two basic components for Earthian motivation. Survival and salvation operate as two singularity wells (black holes or event horizons if you want) which suck in everything the Earthian believes he is; everything he would ever be able to project of himself into his blanked future.
Speculation: the problem here isn't so much the existence of these singularities, but the fact that as the population expands exponentially it feeds its singularities so they continue to expand and consume. At some point the wells will have grown enough that they will swallow up all of life on the planet, not just Earthian minds. Then what? Two singularity wells travelling through the solar system, swallowing everything within range and growing... howling with insatiable hunger. This may be the greatest threat Earthians pose to the rest of the galaxy and beyond, not the chance they might discover faster-than-light travel and launch out into space, spreading their socially dysfunctional terrorism...
If I sift through all that I have experienced as an Earthian, I always come back to this: the people of Earth want to live; are willing to go to any length, commit any atrocity, fight endless wars, build pointless monuments, cause reams of pseudo-history to be recorded "for posterity," to achieve this. Also knowing that despite all their efforts to survive no one gets out alive, they want some kind of guarantee that if they are designed to cheat death in some form, as spirits or as souls, that they will be saved, meaning they will go on to enjoy a new, trouble-free existence in some "blessed" paradise world. Concurrent with the idea of spirit/soul salvation, is the concept of reincarnation. While this does not guarantee a new life free of problems, it at least guarantees a new life, i.e., continuity. This can also be loosely filed under the concept of personal "salvation."
My record would also show that in recent years a growing number of Earthians have chosen to believe that their individual life ends with their physical death. Scientific realizations coupled with the inevitable philosophical conflicts between science and religion, along with the anti-religion, anti-monarchist revolutions of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries gave birth to a growing population of thinking atheists and mindless hedonists. These people reject the existence of deities, or of a single all-powerful and all-controlling deity and claim that one physical life is all there is – and within the available resources of their belief they can prove this. To these people, longevity and a lifestyle that gives the most pleasurable satisfaction to the physical senses is what matters. This is called survival.
Quite apart from the interesting and endless discussions that would derive from looking at these concepts, I suspect that the reason I would have been sent to investigate what makes people tick is to correlate that information with Earthian social developments; how they came to be here from there (and there has to be a "there," there even if man's history deliberately occludes that past); what they did on their way to the here and now. Having created a comprehensive computer analysis of this social movement across the millennia, the computer would then be programmed to extrapolate that information to create a believable “future” for mankind.
Assuming that man does not (or perhaps cannot) evolve beyond his basic modus operandi of survival and salvation, how does that shape the future? Where will the energetic, driving force, go? The one thing it does is to increasingly pit science (survival) against religion (salvation). Extrapolating current conditions, what happens?
If society’s driving force goes to science, the planet is inexorably pulled into survival mode. Science fiction, too often emulated in “real life” to leave any but the most ignorant too comfortable about man's future, has shown that those who rule will want to control man and natural resources. That means despotic rule planet-wide; the culling of billions of Earthians considered of no value to the global economy and the enslavement of the rest. It means control over reproduction and likely all new Earthian life grown in vats – custom built Earthians to serve the specific needs of the controlling elites. Everything will be measured and counted and programmed. No Earthian will possess any form of personal freedom. Hope for human development on earth will be extinguished. Re-read “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, or “1984” by George Orwell, and a host of other, less well known but very graphic stories based in the above analysis - for example, Frank Herbert's “The Green Brain.”
If the driving force goes to religion, to salvation, the scenario changes drastically on the surface, but the results are equally damning. Religion is the least forgiving force on this world. Where religion rules, people suffer. That’s a given. The New World Religion will not allow non-conforming lesser religious groups or communities to exist. They will be absorbed or destroyed. Hedonists and atheists will be forced to become “believers” or they too will be destroyed. A global religion police will hunt down and systematically destroy its enemies. The world will be awash in terror and bloodshed and man plunged in the darkest of dark ages he’s ever created for himself. No one will be able to express a personal thought that disagrees with the ruling religion’s dogma. To do so will mean exposure, arrest, interrogation and death by torture. As was the case during the Spanish Inquisition, there will be no higher court to appeal to.
Of this we can be certain: there will be war.
Because man’s driving force is survival and/or salvation, it won’t matter when the dust settles if a form of state or global government runs the office, or a form of monetary system, say, capitalism, runs the bank. In terms of survival or salvation, neither of these lesser powers will function without approval from the high priesthood of Science or Religion. These will determine the way the planet operates.
Because man is locked into his basic “SS” program, he is doomed to bring about his own enslavement and subsequently his very possible self destruction. No one, that I have observed is “immune” to the basic survival/salvation programming which while apparently inimical to each other in polemics, run concurrently side by side, without conflict. They are what Earthian man is programmed to be.
The question that arises from this is, “Can the survival/salvation programming of the Earthian mind be broken? And if it can, what is it replaced with?”
There is a very simple answer to that. So simple, so basic, no one can see it or grasp its significance and should they hear mention of it, they will reject it outright as utopian or "pie in the sky" thinking.

On the other hand, recent analyzes have shown that people, and young people in particular, are growing away from the church as a guiding light and using secular alternatives more often than ever. Given the human ability to adapt, I see, like many times in the past, change happen quite quickly and those involved, moving ahead in terms of the future. I am still optimistic that we will break through to a different type of paradigm in the 22nd century, given the trend in social responsibility.

Jesus NEVER wanted fancy wealthy churches and rules that tell people how to dress or act in a house of worship. Jesus loved the beggars, homeless, children and folks who had nothing. We are to do the same. If folks really understood the New Testament they would embrace it so much more. Religion has POISENED the TRUTH. It's MAND MADE CRAP that should be discarded. LOVE is the strongest force in the world conquers all even though it's Invisible! How CAN love Be invisible???Christ IS LOVE and He is invisible except when we open our hearts.
