Here is some A-Z common sense that needs to become more common again

 Alphabetical Common Sense

by Bill Cottringer

Knowledge counts but common sense matters. ~LouAnne Johnson.

In the interest of putting the common back in common sense, here is an alphabet of common sense to consider relearning and reusing.

A

Always say what you mean and mean what you say.

B

Become more sensitive to the point of no return, before it comes and goes.

C

Cooperate with others and compete against yourself.

D

Dig deeper to uncover the real problem below the noisy surface symptoms.

E

Evolve your strengths and avoid situations that exploit your weaknesses.

F

Fight mightily for your convictions and be willing to let go of your beliefs.

G

Garner more trust of others’ by being more trustworthy yourself.

H

Hear with both ears—what and how things are said or not said.

I

Improve judgment from the experience with poor judgment.

J

Judge not the quality of an experience, lest you risk ruining the experience.

K

Know the difference between what you want and what you really need.

L

Live your life around the few values and virtues you hold dearest

M

Manage the problems or conflicts you can’t solve or resolve.

N

Notice the connection between what you do and the consequences it brings.

O

Own responsibility for your mistakes, before you get blamed and shamed.

P

Perceive reality as it is, not as you would like it to be.

Q

Question the beliefs you assumed to be true , especially the sacred ones.

R

Reconcile dualistic opposites as just being different sides to the same coin.

S

Satisfy your own needs by helping others satisfy theirs.

T

Think and listen twice and talk once.

U

Understand harmful behavior, and it will at least take the sting out of the impact.

V

Vary your approach to people until you find one that works best.

W

Wish for the best, but plan for the worst, just in case.

X

Xenialize your personality with agreeability, positivism, honesty and good listening.

Y

Yead toward your destination with tenacity, determination and good timing.

Z

Zenning is the best way to lose your ego in what you are doing and also avoid stress.

Agree on the last comment, but I do like odd words like Xenialize (grow forward) and I have always been a fan of Zen as the best way to manage the ego and illusion of self). I had to look up some of these letter verb lists on the Internet to get some ideas. And I don't think one-eared listening will hurt you at all with your mind and spirit!!

I'm glad to say that I have abided in most of these long before I read this from a very young child who grew up early and never had adolescent antics that others had to do and some never grew out of.

Unfortunately, I have only been able to use my hearing aid in my left ear since I got my hearing aids a year ago. So physically only hear from the left ear, but metaphorically, I hear what you are driving at perfectly.

I think the last are a bit forced because of the lack of words that start with letter. Might I suggest Xerox, Yield and Zone as a starting for a good common sense lifestyle suggestion.
