"Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must live." Charles Bukowsky

Okay...so I'm a little flakey around the edges. Heck...I think I flakey all the way through. So what? Okay...so I tell a few off-the-wall jokes? Is there any federal law against it?

WELCOME TO THE FUNNY FARM...(wish you were here)

On the serious side of things...

Professionals/researchers tell us that having the ability to laugh at ourselves, at all the "crazy" and "insane" things we all say and do do...is healthy for us!

So, much, so...that I have devoted an entire section to mental illness on my website.  This is one of the most important pages on my website.

BUT, THERE IS NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS!

Humor helps us all to cope.  Example;  I suffered a stroke in May, 2012.  After I was discharged from the hospital, it didn't take me long, as I pushed my walker (off the property), and fell into the gutter!  A few months later, I was able to have a little chuckle about this incident, and humor has helped me in my recovery, etc. Guess what?  I still have my sense of humor!  There's nothing funny about a stroke, either.  But, as my recovery continues, I'm trying to find the positive things about how the stroke has affected me, etc.  Four months after the stroke...I'm still trying to find out if I'm getting back to NORMAL...scary, eh?  I don't know, at this point, if I want to be NORMAL or not.

*                          *                     *

In trying to mix the serious issue like mental illness and humor was not easy for me as I pondered the question when I built the Funny Farm. (2001)  .

To be NORMAL is over-rated!

 (partial solution)  If people all over the country would just mind their own businesss...there would not be so much stress in this society...and therefore, there COULD be a lower rate of mental illness. (In 2012, there's too much pressure on people to do this...OR to do that!).   So, my message to all American's out there...

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS...and, for once in your life...think about helping others...instead of just yourself...

People all over the country, have to be helped by others, with their problems...and NOT ridiculed and/or teased by others...which makes things worse...

- Stigma (definition) shame or social disgrace

Purpose: Funny Farm:
To raise awareness...the stigma concerning mental illness in this country, must be eliminated and we all have to do our part.

Being highly over rated can have its pros and cons. Personally I think it's better to be middle of the road...M
