I lived and worked there for 25 years.
Prior to that I lived in the Bronx for 25 years which is the only other borough mentioned in the video.
I sure wish people had listened to me when I spoke at major events and organizations, formed committees and won grants for health education.
More recently there were attempts to educate and help through nonprofits and businesses which have fallen on deaf ears.
The answer is simple:
A person with a basic blood chemistry rejects acid substances.
May God help us as we move more and more into Revelation's predicted state of pharmacia (sorcery).
Of note: my daughter was born in Staten Island Hospital (now Staten Island University Hospital). Her early challenges are spelled out in multi award-winning Preserved to Serve.
This last month in that same hospital an emergency room nurse was attacked by a druggie who was strangling her using wires, to the point that she passed out, when colleagues came to her rescue.
Again, years ago and yes today too I wish people would listen to the cause of our addictive society rather than just reporting on the increase in addiction which is fueling increasing crime and poverty.
