With so much hype about all the problems surrounding the current worldwide lockdowns, I thought I would take a different approach, although it may be politically incorrect to actually acknowledge that there are some benefits as well!

Aside from the mantra to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 let us examine lockdown advantages in light of God, family, health and work.

One of my books, The 8 Laws of Health with Recipes
http://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewwork.asp?authorid=111773&id=55375 is a good place to begin following the anacronym, NEWSTART:

N stands for nutrition which is changing radically. Note this article that the mighty avocado is replacing pork bellies: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-26/avocados-are-in-pork-bellies-out-in-the-era-of-pandemic-eating?utm_campaign=news&utm_medium=bd&utm_source=applenews

Then, there is the issue of people needing something to do while at home (albeit in addition to possibly working and caring for children). For now they have a bit more control over what their children are learning.
Cooking had become almost a lost art but is now being reinstated (sure takes care of boredom and lends itself to creativity). Why not try some of the recipes in my book? While different they are highly nutritious, raise the immune system and help ward off any disease.

E stands for exercise. Many doctors are decrying the lack of the health benefits of outdoor exercise. Sadly we have lost sight of the ever-increasing menace of the radiation being released from Fukushima all over the Northern Hemisphere. It has even spread to the Southern Hemisphere through the oceans. In addition, there are many ways to exercise at home. Encouraging your roommates to participate with you can make it more fun as well!

W stands for water. A home filtration system is helpful. As for me I have sought the highest quality spring water which is naturally filtered.

S stands for sunshine which  may be gotten via sitting on a covered terrace or balcony.

T stands for termperance which is more in your control when you have some moderation over your activities.

A stands for air which is critical and should be well-monitored at home. Lots of houseplants are helpful! It may be noted that oxygen is essential for all life and may even  be obtained  internally through the juice of organic lemons!

R stands for rest which, when at home, is often available when one chooses which is ideal.  Encourage your family to take occasional  “time outs”.
Further, we are in a sabbatical year allotted by God’s mercy in order to take this critical time to focus on Him and His requirements for His creation. It is definitely a time to get in touch with His Word. You may also wish to watch the following message. Before doing so pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to understand. Don’t fret if much is new. I am still learning and pray to be able to do so for eternity.

Lastly, the final T stands for Trust in God. Everyone I talk to is beginning to realize that they do not have control of their lives. It is not a bad thing when one is being encouraged to look to the One who does! Faith in Him leads to Trust that He will always keep His promises.

All in all, there are benefits to lockdowns if one open-mindedly seeks them.

God is mercifully holding back the four winds of strife giving us this special time to come to worship Him in the way that He requires. The choice is yours as to what will happen at the end of September. The great call is to repent and recognize that we have been imperfect vessels of His spirit and to pray for help in realigning to His ways. It is then that you will be compatible with Him when He finally returns and He can say to you, “Well done good and faithful servant.”

My routine has hardly changed, being housebound voluntarily because of cold weather and its effects on my autonomic dysreflexia and intense sweating. But I already practice everything up to the last R and T, because, aside from providing endorphins to the brain, a feel-good thing that those religiously inclined need like opium, belief in a god and prayer does nothing to change outcomes. Avoiding getting the virus by avoiding other people is much preferable to going to church, elbow to elbow, and praying for God to stop it.

I prefer the other T, in moderation. I have not changed my daily glass of white wine. And have read that a glass of wine with dinner every day is not harmful at all.
